So interesting. I didn't know that Justin Tranter had song-writing credits on so many hits, including Beiber's "Sorry" and Selena Gomez' "Good for You " - wow. I remember when Adam was tweeting about "Precious Weapons" - seems so loong ago. ETA - I like what he says about Taylor Swift: "I don't know what it's like to be a rich, straight, white girl but she tells the story so well that I can relate to it." Thanks for sharing that link.

Jordan Smith is very good.. I don't mind his singing a Freddie Mercury song and sounding a bit like Adam.. I think It's kind of wonderful.. I was reading the comments under the Voice's video of the performance, and some are already saying he has the "best" voice to come out of one of these singing competition shows and the next best thing to Freddie.. how quickly they forget! :-/ Evidently even though Adam has been fronting Queen for years now, his visibility is still under the radar for some.. maybe many. A newer (and quite conservative) coworker of mine posted the Jordan STL video on her Facebook page lavishing "best ever" praises. My first instinct was to let her know that the "best ever" cover is by Adam Lambert, but I expected that she would either say, "Who?" or "I hate that guy." So instead, I let her know that the best concert I had ever attended was QAL. She was so surprised that they had toured and was convinced that he turned down the job after idol. She and her husband loved him on Idol, but they hadn't paid attention since. She wanted to see vids, so I set her up with the NYE show and she was SO HAPPY (swoons, sighs, goosebumps) that I told her. She called her husband and told him to watch it and said if QAL ever came back to the states they would definitely splurge on tickets. Down the rabbit hole she went...It was so fun to share the riches with her! This definitely reinforced for me how much Adam needs US radio/tv presence. This person claimed to be a huge Adam fan and knew nothing about QAL, so there are probably plenty more untapped fans from the Idol days that he can win over again if given enough visibility.

Looking at the possible set list for tonight, and thinking about IIHY, reggae style, a lightbulb went off. What is the purpose of an encore? Why do they exist? Why do we EXPECT them? It's part of a formula for a concert, right?
But, choosing what songs to include in the encore is a bit of an art, and is sometimes very crafty. Usually the concert ends on a very high note, lots of energy, and perhaps one of the singer's/band/s greatest hits. You want the entire audience to be whooping and hollering and yearning for just one more song. But, which song?
It depends on how you want to control the crowd when the show is over. If you wind them up too tight, you run the risk of them getting rowdy and out of control upon exiting. So, one strategy is to leave them wanting more at the end of the set, and then, after giving them more, calming them down and cooling them off. Leaving them feeling happy and content and peaceful. I wonder if that is not the plan for IIHY. Familiar song. Done reggae, which is one of the most happy sounding styles. Upbeat but not driving. A laid back, kick your shoes off and drink a margarita vibe. No worries, be happy. This might be particularly important if Adam is not closing the show or if he is doing a short set. He doesn't want to leave the audience in an agitated state, or clamoring for more. It's a matter of pacing.
Or, maybe I am overthinking?

Now this I don't understand. I get it that people can't forget the glam rock period, and maybe this is referencing the makeup and nail polish era. But I have never seen Adam as feminine, even when he dressed as a (gorgeous!) woman in that pink dress so long ago. I believe this dress up was for a Halloween party before American Idol days..I think Brad was with himyes this was dress-up. Adam really needed the money, at this time in his life....Brad and he went together to this event...and luckily I believe he won the $200.00 first prize. The picture is there for perpetuity...in INTERNET LALA LAND --- WITH NO CONTEXT! At first glance when this appeared we thought he looked a lot like Brooke Sheilds... How many times have men at work or on a team dressed up like women and goofed around doing whatever....in costume...they however, may not have had Adam's flair for make-up application!!
HE IS VERY CREATIVE! (started at the back of the thread ...I will delete if already mentioned)

geezlouise wrote: No, geezlouise, I stayed away from the comment section, too brutal for me. Just out of curiosity though, were there references to him being too feminine? Don't need details, just wondering.
Speaking of the comment sections, I get a kick out of Adam's Dad's take on things, like this one (already posted here, but I just thought it was spot on):

I just sent out another tweet about the album of the year category. We can do it!!! Adam is also behind in the fandom category, way behind the Harmonizers actually, but I think the album is more important. (all links on page1 for those who are wondering)
