I could buy 2.8 now because the videos and PR articles were written a few months ago. Another 300K, in that time, seems reasonable. But an estimate of 3.5 million does not. And I am the Mary Poppins of numbers!  LOL, you didn't point out my one glaring error. Forgot to divide the GT sales to get TEA. Oops that makes a big difference. But even so I was estimating my percentage ratio based on known numbers and we have never had firm numbers for other countries. But I honestly think the 2.8 may still be low because CHINA. Yes I know direct sales aren't much because of piracy but weren't they just talking about streaming in China cutting into the piracy market and making China an up and coming music market? Also pretty sure RCA's press releases towards the end of Trespassing era were touting 2 million worldwide. |

Worst case scenario if ALN is done it still performed better as a second single than Trespassing era NCOE did on Pop. NCOE got ZERO on Pop but ALN made the top 50. Even on HAC it's better as NCOE only made it to #36 there. So still an improvement and they can move on to another single. BUT I don't think that is going to happen. I think at the very least ALN still has a chance to move up on HAC even if it doesn't go any further on Pop.

Tomorrow will be the first day without NYE/New Year's Day on it. There should be an upswing for everyone. Today's chart looks like a ghost town! All the light gray negatives! I am not even close to talking about ALN being done! What is this talk! Ya, I don't think it's "done" either... I have to say though - the radio picture is hopeless imo (I don't know what other word to use) - looking at the pop chart - Biebs has #1, #9 and #18, Swift and Gomez are flying up - all totally regardless of the songs, just on the name alone... I am TOTALLY convinced there is no "quality" consideration what so ever nowhere even close... so next time anyone says "he needs a good song" I call absolute BS...TOH IS A BRILLIANT SONG! we'll see... |

Nica, you are right about those "names" being played no matter what. But good songs do catch on. But if not radio, there has to be exposure from somewhere else. That's why Shazaming and Spotify are so important. Radio will take note of songs from both those places.
Also, REALLY hoping for some US TV appearances in February.

That's why Shazaming and Spotify are so important. Radio will take note of songs from both those places. Also, REALLY hoping for some US TV appearances in February. Spotify streams for ALN dropped to around 37k / day after Christmas sadly (7 day average). It was doing 45k / day on average during the beginning of December. GT is still doing around 200k / day. Dropped a bit back from 225k / day in December as well. I'm seeing a small increase for TOH on Spotify though. Looks like the Australian spins are making some impact. TOH passed The Light on daily spins the last two days as well. In the 7 day average The Light still has more streams. Sorry but I was just trying to point that out in case people were starting to worry. I was actually trying to prevent a lot of the "Oh no the sky is falling" that we tend to get whenever there are negative updates by pointing out that ALN has ALREADY out performed Trespassing's second single. |
