We may be the only ones left on the thread tonite, but I am right here with both of you!
I didn't really get lost in the events of raising my boys; but I did lose music; to the extent I thought, one day, "all the good songs have been written". My perception of music was that I'd rather listen to news radio because there was nothing musically inspiring out there. Now I know how wrong I was. I just wasn't looking for a melody. The amazing thing about my Adam awakening is HE caught me, unknowing, and did just that - he awakened me and brought me back to experiencing the passion - singing, dancing, going to concerts - that had shaped and inspired me years before.
As for "Loaded Smile" - it is one of my most intimately loved songs, ever. It speaks to me. It speaks to the relationship my parents had, that I watched, that I lived. Two beautiful people loved and then began to slowly ruin the love. Their last dance was at my wedding.

Along with Soaked and Broken Open, I feel that had they released these ballads, Adam may have garnered a whole new audience. Abriton |

Don't care about any idols but Adam, but who said Cook's fanbase is bigger than Adam's and what is that opinion based on ? Idle curiosity 8-) :  Discussed it a bit earlier in the thread. Thought was, his fans were saying that because of his sales on album #1. Thank you, that's what I get for coming in when the thread is already over 20 pages long :  |

As always, thank you for saying what I have been feeling but wasn't able to say the eloquent way you did, that song just gets into my heart and reminds me of past loves...wow! to remind you of your parents' relationship must be pretty amazing and heart breaking ( I find it to be a song that exemplifies #realness for me)  |

Adam's "Idolatry" interview is SO good. He is genuine, articulate, fun and so himself. If people don't get IT after this, they're lost.

Abriton I think certain songs just go straight to the heart and are based on our chemistry, life experiences, etc...and for me Loaded Smile (and Adele's Rolling in the Deep) are both amazingly melancholy and real and get under my skin, I appreciate (more than you will know) that there are others who feel the same - music is SO personal, it cuts through all the intellectual BS, there are songs that make me cry (and I don't even know what it is that is causing me to cry, it's the tone, key of the song, even before I listen to the words). Another song that did that to me is Van Morrison's "Sweet Thing" - first time I heard it I started crying - Adam's ' Mad World' did the same... |
