Kendrick was robbed for album of the year imo. Taylor? Maybe pop. But not album. ITA -- although I am not surprised. The Grammy voters are very conservative. For example, David Bowie never won a music award, just a video award.

Okay, I YTed Adele's performance. It wasn't as bad as y'all are making out. It was worse! What the hell was she doing? She has already blown out her voice in the past, right? I thought she had gotten some coaching after that. This sounded like she is abusing her voice even more than before. Painful to listen to. She almost sounded like she was about to lose her voice at one point. She kind of struggled with quite a few notes, especially in the chorus. Couple that with the sound problems and her performance seemed less Adele-ish than ever. But I have to say, that song she sang, "All I Ask", is an amazingly beautiful song.

I'll add my two cents, for what it's worth . . .
My son & girlfriend were at the Grammys tonite, so I had a special reason for tuning in! Here and there they tweeted us - I know they had a great time.
This is (was) the first time I think I've ever tuned in for the whole show. There were moments of real performance; real artistry, I thought. This show was so much more than the booty shaking, fake orgasmic performances of the ingenues - of every genre - of past years. Really felt entertained; even with the commercial breaks, which seemed better than those of the Super Bowl.
Adele's performance was like nails on a chalkboard. Flat, screechy. I have no doubt her voice will be completely gone if she doesn't start vocalizing where her voice belongs.
Like I said before, this is just my two cents. I thought Gaga's Bowie tribute was brilliant. Mzsue and DancyGeorgia echoed my thoughts. She performed so openly, IMO so honestly. This is coming from someone, who, unlike many of you, knows very little about David Bowie. Wish I could say I paid attention years ago, but I didn't. I only learned of Bowie through Adam - and Nile. I actually didn't know that one of my favorite songs from the movie "Moulin Rouge"- "Heroes" - belonged to Bowie. As with learning about Queen, I am a student of all these amazing artists. So my viewpoint comes from a child who is just learning to draw; learning about the colors and textures of performance.
I live in great awe of Bowie, Queen, Nile, Gaga. But you will find me at the feet of Adam. Adam's twitter quote spoke to my favorite part of the performance; the beginning, with the mosaic of paint on Gaga's face, changing, as the music and songs began their magic. Once again, AFL is the master of what is said and not said; leaving so much for us to discover.

Hopefully Adams nominated next year. I think the audience. Not just hardcores. Are ready for Adam to take over the music world.

Man, I thought I would be blown away by the Gaga tribute to Bowie. After the interesting mapping of his makeup on her face, I found the whole performance oddly tepid. Maybe because she had to sing below her range? Maybe because it was bookended by her House of Gaga/Intel promos that surely were in her contract in order to appear? Gaga's PR mistakes in the past were to appear too self-serving and falsely grateful toward her "little monsters," and she ditched her mgmt after Artpop disaster and hired new people who did a great job of reintroducing her. But that was awful. I have been a giant Bowie fan since 70s and have admired Gaga for her bravery and her art-as-life appearance and her amazing videos and how she surrounded herself with great talent/designers THEN proved to the world she has the goods vocally and musically when people thought it was all window dressing. I expected to be moved or maybe outraged if it seemed self-serving, but I did not expect to be bored. I get that she was channeling Bowie with her subdued moves, because his moves were limited, though his charisma and talent were off the charts. I get that the video screens were low tech intentionally as a throwback to vintage music video graphics. But if anyone wants to be moved by an old video of Bowie's with primitive video graphics that were groundbreaking in their day, check out Ashes to Ashes vid. It nearly brought me to tears with how simple and profound it was when I saw it in my teens; it makes me nearly cry now. Then ofc if you can take it, his latest videos, which are almost unbearable to watch as a goodbye. And certainly the definitive live version of Heroes is the Freddie Mercury tribute concert with Queen and original spider from Mars Mick Ronson, just months before his death from same cancer that would take Bowie's life 30 (?) years later. Bowie was nothing if not self-serving and had a rep for ditching his mates when he found a new path, so I'm not even going to fault Gaga for that. But I felt no stirring of emotion--which seems nearly impossible. It was just a big shrug. Disappointed.

Maybe he was talking about his clothes? Sam does dress nicely. I think Adam was talking about the weight SS has lost and I've got to give him props for that. But clothes....I don't think so.lol

I just stumbled upon a photo of David Bowie "off stage" in 1973 --- Even in his private life, this "version" of David pretty much vanished by 1974.
