Gotta smile. Don't know if this is the real scenario, but, just imagining. You are like most of the people I know in RL. You have heard the name "Adam Lambert," know he won Idol (  ), know what he looks like, but not much more. You see a "celebrity" in the airport. "Wow, first I see Jared from the Subway ads, and now, Adam Lambert. What a rush." So, you approach him.... he is alone, no entourage, no paps, no fans, just an ordinary guy, like Jared. He is friendly, chats a bit, and allows you to take a picture with him. "Cool beans. I'm gonna tweet this to my friends." And the AFL fandom descends! Hundreds of tweets in a matter of minutes. Asking all kinds of questions. Thanking you, berating you, chastising you, praising you. Hundreds become a thousand. WTF???? A genuine Twilight Zone moment. Can you imagine????  Almost except there were not hundreds (a few dozen) & no one berated or chastised her until her coy behavior began...even then I would not say berate, perhaps chastised. Def not a twitter newbie and is trying for the entertainment biz, behind the scenes. JS....keeping it real Although I do agree she had no knowledge of the breadth of Adams fanbase. Yeah, that's the way I saw it too rad. Definitely a little attention grabbing going on. *Shrugs-another day in the fandom. |

The consensus among fans seems to be that we need a bit more contact with AFL. And, IMO, some are being quite pushy about it, albeit in a polite, slightly whiny way. I am sure Adam is getting the message loud and clear. Why is he not responding? I have a new theory. I think this is Adam being stubborn and pushing back. For whatever reason, Adam does not want to release info on his album, or on his location while working and/or having a personal life. And he is "keeping it real" by not giving in to the pressure to always be accommodating and accessible, as he feels he has in the past. The more his fans push him, I think. the more he is gonna dig in his heels and refuse to be moved from his position. Obviously, from the pic from some airport, he is still being nice to his fans ---- thank goodness. He is just making a statement to himself and to us, that we will not run his life, he will. As he said, "Controlling, with a smile." It is so HBIC of him. Cassie I think your assessment is spot on (as usual). Adam is training his fans. There was an interview a while back where he talked about the paps and not rewarding bad behavior by looking up for a picture. He has had several twitter parties lately and given us personal pictures. Adam is taking back some of his personal life and teaching fans the rules. I love this statement: "Controlling, with a smile." It is so HBIC of him. (We need to add a smile to this)  I don't get the feeling that Adam is pullling back at all. His tweet about the Sauli pic, the other day, just about floored me with its openness. He didn't have to say anything about that pic, let alone say that he took it in Bora, Bora. As far as keeping his album details close, I think that's pretty normal for most artists. And, I think this album will be very different from FYE and he wants us to be surprised. Anyway, I think we know a lot about album 2. Adam has talked about collaborations and some of the writers and producers have too. What we haven't gotten are any press releases from RCA yet. But I think the hype for album one was all because of the Idol aftermath. Adam caused quite the sensation in Season 8. And then, when he didn't win he become even more of a hoopla magnet. Then Rolling Stone, etc. What's happening now, with album 2, is more of what happens with most recording artists. |

Adam was unusually talkative about FYE plus he was doing Idol tour interviews throughout the Summer and being asked about the album a few times a week by reporters. He is not giving very many interviews right now. He really seemed focused on the album. |

Have to share: I'm in DC and have been out since this afternoon with group of college friends who still live here. My phone rings at 6:03pm and it is my daughter. In very serious tone she said, "Where is Adam Lambert right now?" She is not a music fan and gets slightly disturbed at my mania so my heart literally stopped wondering what could possibly have happened to Adam, you know, airplane and all. I asked her twice why and she just repeated, "Where is he?" Finally, the third time she laughed and said, "Just tell me where he is."
I told her that he probably took off from MIA at around noon or so and was on his way - maybe to NY then to Europe or maybe to LA. She laughed out loud and said, "I told you so."
Here she was at her attorney's office and said attorney has a son who totally addicted to Adam, and the attorney is a bit of a fan, too. Don't know how old son is, but I know he has an 18 yr old sister, so I'm assuming around that age. When Veronica, the attorney, brought Adam up, my daughter told her that she would bet her that I knew where Adam was at that very moment.... hence the phone call.
What was a bit disturbing to my daughter is that Veronica was impressed rather than shocked and appalled that I (sorta) knew. WIN, WIN, WIN
Okay, my friends are sitting in the living room where I am staying and I made a lame excuse about emailing my daughter with some info, so I better get back.
Haven't been online since 3pm so don't know if we found him. Going to try to make them all go home so I can read rest of thread and find out. Life's so complicated.

He is sending us personal photos and giving us information. I won't be surprised if Adam eventually asks fans not to feed the bad paps sites. Most fans are respectful, but there is a segment of fandom that continues to hack his personal FB and those of his friends. It would drive a human insane. MyS*&@^#r you could be right. It might just be the difference between Adam the performer and Adam the writer in his creative head space. |

savvy, love your story!  kittykay, I don't think Adam would ever tell fans to not feed the pap sites. IMO, he's too PR saavy to ever make a statement like that. I think he's come a long way in learning how to handle them himself. |
