Since his run on Idol, Adam Lambert may have become an international superstar — but don’t think he’s gotten too big for his (sparkly leather) britches. Glambert recently took to Twitter to show some love to up-and-coming electropop act Simon Curtis, whose hotly tipped second studio album RA was released to iTunes on June 7.

“Check out my friend @simoncurtis' new album RA on itunes!!” Adam tweeted. This isn’t the first time that Adam has teamed up with Simon, as the Idol runner-up reportedly asked Simon to write tracks for his upcoming sophomore LP back in 2010.

Like Adam, Simon has defied conventions to forge his own path through the notoriously fickle music industry: He remains without a label, manager, or publicist, and his new album is entirely self-penned (with the help of trusted producer Jeff Wells). The boost of getting a shoutout to Adam’s one-million-plus Twitter followers is a big deal for an unsigned artist like Simon, and it may have already paid off — RA has rocketed into the iTunes Top 100 in 11 countries, and is currently sitting at #26 on the iTunes Pop Chart with no formal promotion.

With famous friends like this to lend Simon a hand, it may not be long before Idol hopefuls are covering Simon’s songs in their auditions!

Sasha Mallory makes SYTYCD Top 20

Fox's So You Think You Can Dance announced its top 20 performers on Thursday's Green Mile show who will battle to become America's Favorite Dancer. Fan favorite Melanie Moore and SYTYCD choreographer Mia Michaels' former assistant Ryan Ramirez made the cut, along with Adam Lambert's backup dancer Sasha Mallory and Robert Taylor, who once danced with Michael Jackson. Get to know this year's top 20 before they hit the dance floor to win viewer votes starting June 15.

While women began adopting menswear into their wardrobes early in the 20th century, men only recently began experimenting with the markers of traditional women's fashion. There are several distinct trends cropping up in menswear to usher in the new androgynous fashion movement. First, fashion designers such as Marc Jacobs began experimenting with alternatives to trousers for men with the idea of, 'Let's get the man out of the pants, not in a transvestite way but in a male way.'

Male celebrities take the trend even further, borrowing not only fashion from the ladies, but makeup as well: Adam Lambert has become ubiquitously known for his black nail polish and lip gloss, while Johnny Depp keeps his black eyeliner intact even when not in character as Captain Jack.

I have changed my recommendation on VH1 Do Something Awards to DO NOT VOTE

On 5.25.11 I recommended voting in this competition. Since then I have done some additional research and testing.

1. Voting for the celebrity online awards is just a way to build awareness for the real awards show.

2, Adam is not nominated for any award. The only way to vote for Adam is as a write-in. It takes much longer to cast a write-in vs. voting for a nominee. There is no limit on voting. So 10 minutes of Adam fan voting time can be wiped out in about 1 minute by someone voting for a nominee.

Poll rating (0=lowest rating, 10=highest rating)

Adam benefit: 3 ¨C a win could raise awareness of The Trevor Project.
Fairness: 3 - there is an attempt to limit voting for just one category but it is very easy to work around.
Potential to win: 9 ¨C The voting structure makes a write-in vote very timeconsuming.
Fan value: 2
RECOMMENDATION ¨C vote only if you are willing to work really hard.


About the awards: DoSomething.org and VH1 have partnered to present The Do Something Awards to honor young people's commitment to social change. VH1 is doing a series of online contests to promote this event ¨C they have nominees but also accept write-ins. One of the celebrity categories could help Adam but, more importantly make a difference.
