I hear you but this is not a social media thing...other than the speed with which the rush comes. It was Sam's mediocre offering and inebriated [his excuse] hubris that brought it on. Shakespeare created a stellar career writing of tragedies based on a 'hero' brought down on his own petard by his personal weaknesses. That is what happened here...If Sam had put in a modicum of effort into creating a thoughtful thank you ahead of time, none of this would have happened. If we protect him from his comeuppance, how will he learn he is not invincible....?? The mighty must fall? Makes me think how people must have been salivating at the chance to teach Adam he wasn't invincible after the AMAs, after all that was a whole performance, he knew he'd be there, much more than a modicum of preparation, it wasn't a surprise win. It did take him a month to come up with an explanation and and semi-apology that I found acceptable. Now if we say that Adam has learned from that and so Sam will too then that's fine but I'm quite sure there will be other opportunities for foot in mouth from Adam. Just this week it was fur so I guess he deserved the flak he got. Love ya but I think you want it both ways.

I can't help thinking that most 23 year olds "ain't quite cooked yet" as we say in the South. Neuroscientists say that the brain is not completely developed until at least age 25. In my experience, guys' brains mature even later than gals'. I am not gonna regale you with some of the stupid things I did before the age of 25. I bet y'all would turn red recalling your own faux pas. At that age, we thought we were the most innovative, enlightened, forward thinking, actualized generation since forever. We hippies were rather pompous about it. We were pretty sucky when it came to knowing history. We were writing history ourselves with completely new and brilliant ideas. I also get the impression (and I could be 100% wrong) that SS does not have a highly developed social intelligence. Put these things together with Sam's skyrocketing to fame and being showered with accolades, and I think his words and demeanor are understandable. Excusable? Meh. Maybe. Maybe not. But, even tho' I don't care for his music, his voice or his performances, I think I'll give him a pass on this one. ETA: How is this related to Adam? I am so glad he didn't achieve stardom at that age. I think his struggles and experiences in his 20's were important in refining his personality and humility. I also think Adam is at the genius level on any social intelligence scale. So glad I stan such a man. Agree, with most of above, but re Sam he must have "people" working for him, publicist, assistant ect. Seems this isn't the first time he misstepped, I can't imagine no one going over an acceptance speech with him, only that he feels he doesn't need any help or guidance.
