To add to the GLAAD discussion, first....he really through down the gauntlett last year when he performed at the awards and made his parting declaration re diversity WITHIN the glbt community. Second....I could be wrong on this..but I have not seen anything that indicates he is being recognized at all for FYE, 2 hit singles, charity single, charity water or GNT. Nor have we heard that he is performing. Is it just too early for this or is he being completely shunned. Anybody know?? youtu.be/EviLKEsVNdkAdam was nominated for a GLAAD Award last year (lost to Lady Gaga) and also performed at the GLAAD Los Angeles awards. The GLAAD Awards in 2010 were in 3 parts -- part 1 in NY, part 2 in LA with Adam as entertainment and part 3 in San Francisco where Adam was nominated for an award. Not sure if they will nominate him for FYE in 2011 because he was nominated for it in 2010.

Proof that you are never too old to be an Adam fan if you are glamorous! And at the age of 102 - Ilene Olsby isn't slowing down.
Olsby uses slide film to take photographs, which she projects onto a monitor to use as a guide to watercolor. Hundreds of her own paintings cover her walls, everything from beautiful seascapes to fashionable women and bouquets of flowers.
In her bedroom sits a display case full of handmade broaches and large necklaces. "I saw that big jewelry is 'in,'" she noted.
Next to her jewelry case hangs a picture of her smiling alongside Adam Lambert from American Idol. "I was so in love with that boy's singing," she said, and she got a kick when her son-in-law did a little Photoshop magic to create the illusion.Link: everett.komonews.com/news/arts-culture/102-years-young-seattle-artist-isnt-slowing-down/647580______________________________________ On Adam and GLAAD -- I am not a real fan of GLAAD.The are primarily focused on corporate deal-making and really do little to work for real change. They say they support grassroots efforts but if you review their financials, they really do not. The GLAAD Media awards are really a fundraising event and the split to 3 events (first done in 2010) was done to raise more money. That said -- I am certain that Adam could have attended if he wanted and would have been high on their promo celebrity list because he is a PR magnet. But I do not see the benefit in attending for Adam -- right now he needs to be promoted for as a musician and artist.

And if he was not invited isnt it strange? I mean he's one of the hot names in the community. There were three events: GLAAD Media Awards presented in San Francisco by ROKK Vodka at the San Francisco Marriott Marquis on Saturday, May 14. Additional awards were presented in New York City at the Marriott Marquis on Saturday, March 19 and in Los Angeles at The Westin Bonaventure Hotel on Sunday, April 10. I am 100% sure Adam would have been welcomed at any or all of these events. And I am not sure why anyone would think he was not invited. There is a different question that was raised in the article I posted -- the issue with Adam and GLAAD had to do with a power struggle that happened within GLAAD in 2009. On Dec 3, 2009: GLAAD and ABC are at peace over Adam Lambert Post a Comment (0) (9) (0) December 3, 2009 | 2:44 pm
The Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation just issued a statement regarding the ongoing Adam Lambert controversy that might surprise you.
In the statement, GLAAD says that the organization spoke several times with ABC about concerns that Lambert is being held to a double standard. After those discussions, ABC issued a statement to GLAAD:
"Given the live nature of the American Music Awards, Adam Lambert’s performance, which differed greatly from his rehearsal, caught many, including the network, off guard. This is not a question of Lambert’s sexual orientation. As is evidenced by GLAAD’s media report card, ABC is at the forefront of positive gay and lesbian portrayal on television. We welcome openly gay performers and look forward to continuing our great work within the LGBT community."
In turn, GLAAD President Jarrett Barrios issued the following:
“It would appear that the kiss between Adam Lambert and his keyboardist did not factor into ABC’s decision. ABC has a history of positive gay and transgender inclusion that includes featuring kisses between gay and lesbian couples on-air. We applaud the visibility of openly gay performers and congratulate Adam Lambert for sharing his story on 'The Ellen DeGeneres Show' this week as well as his upcoming appearance on 'The Jay Leno Show.' "
latimesblogs.latimes.com/showtracker/2009/12/glaad-and-abc-are-at-peace-over-adam-lambert.htmlBut the GLAAD Board did not agree with Barrios decision to be bought off by ABC --- and within 24 hours the tune changed: GLAAD Is Annoyed at ABC for Axing Adam Lambert
Fri., Dec. 4, 2009 7:00 PM PST by Natalie Finn Adam Lambert Kevork Djansezian/Getty Images
UPDATE: Adam Lambert is no longer persona non grata at ABC. The network confirmed that the saucy singer will perform on The View next Thursday, a day after being feted as one of Barbara Walters' 10 Most Fascinating People of 2009. _______________________________________________________________________
Turns out GLAAD is pretty pissed.
In response to some confusion over what it's actual stance is on ABC nixing a total of three Adam Lambert performances following his racy prime-time showing at the American Music Awards, the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation has two words: Double standard.
"We appreciate ABC's commitment to gay and transgender inclusion in other programming," GLAAD president Jarrett Barrios said in a statement Friday, the alliance's third in two days.
"However, let us be clear that GLAAD remains steadfast in our assertion that Adam Lambert is being subjected to a double standard by ABC as an openly gay performer. We do not support ABC cancelling Adam Lambert's past and future performances. We urge the community to reach out to ABC and express their concerns that Adam Lambert is being subjected to a double standard."
We were in fact wondering why GLAAD, whose feathers are so easily ruffled, had seemingly accepted with ease ABC's assertion that it was axing Lambert from Jimmy Kimmel Live and Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve because his AMA performance "differed greatly from his rehearsal."
Well, apparently GLAAD didn't accept anything. Which is not to say ABC is lying. But...Adam admitted that maybe he went "a little too far" and he tweeted that he's "goin in a new direction."
So why can't he help ring in the new year?

It was not that GLAAD had an issue with Adam -- it was that Barrios has been willing to take corporate checks and give big corporations support even when their policies are not gay-friendly. The same criticism has been leveled at other similar organization that start out as activists but become part of the establishment -- like the NAACP.

I have a feeling gelly that the conservative gays are still somewhat shunning Adam. I remember Adam tweeting that "gays eat their own" and unfortunately many of them still have a stick up their collective ar*ses when Adam is brought up. This doesn't seem true with the international gay community but who knows. Maybe I'm just being pessimistic and Adam just didn't have the time. JMHO.

I dont think he wouldn't attend if they invited him . It's not who we know he is as a person IMO. These conservative gays IMO have more power in the US than in Europe. But I dont live in the US so I nothing about it. Just what I hear from you guys.

Another example of Adam helping friends. Look who just got a gig with KE$HA! Guess Monte lost his drummer though. WARNWILLIS: its official.. I leave for London monday... Rocking the EU/UK with @keshasuxx !!!!!!about 8 hours agovia webReply Retweet . Scroll alert: Just thinking... Warren may have skills in his own right. Adam may be... dare I say ...just one more person he has worked for..so is on his resume. Warren may be known by the label etc. Don't Adam and Kesha have the same label. Warren was also asked to do the Katy Perry tour but for sound/computer work etc --as per Adam's GNT. I asked Monte why Warren didn't go with Katy as the joke was he was going to play for Monte instead. Monte told me Warren is amazing at the sound stuff but he is a musician first and playing is his first love. And that was why he turned it down. ( I think he had his hernia operation during that time period anyway.) I wonder if he is playing or doing sound again for Kesha. Relates to gelly 14's information about Adam now following Zach Galifianakis. This guy slammed Adam's "friend" Kesha? (edit...reportedly ..not sure as with stuff about Adam not always exactly factual) Interesting/funny /poor taste showing..... type article in my local newspaper a few days ago...about Kesha and Zack.Which means many may have seen the article, but maybe not the international folk. Kesha emailed Zach to ??? talk/ask him out...as she likes bearded, heavy set, chunky guys. (Way to start Kesha!) Zack sees Kesha at an event or whatever and goes over to her and tells her... he got her email, and that her music is awful and it does not have good messages for young people. (Not too nice of him...but I guess she won't be emailing him anymore.)

All we know is that Adam did not attend the GLAAD Awards. Nothing indicates that he wasn't invited. But why would we want Adam to support GLAAD? Anyway I am not openminded about GLAAD who I believe are status quo apologists. For example, GLAAD is now helping NBC with the Tracy Morgan situation so that NBC doesn't have to boot Morgan off 30 Rock. It is what they do and why they get the big corporate donations.
