OT but in case you are interested... I haven't been posting much lately, but I am still here most days. I got discouraged during Adam's tour, as I was supposed to go to see him in Kansas and then couldn't get away. That got me pretty depressed--however; I come bearing good news! During the last month I have been preparing to move! I am leaving Seattle, where I have lived for the past 13 years and returning to my hometown of Portland, OR. My sister has bought a house in SE almost 20 years ago, and my parents moved back last year from out of state to build a cottage in her back yard. The cottage has taken time to get going, but they are finally starting construction. They moved back because my dad got diagnosed with dementia, so I wanted to be closer. Not long after that, my neighbor asked if I wanted to sell my house...hmmm. I have been working as a caregiver for my 91 year old friend with Alzheimer's for the past year (she has no family or children, only 2 nephews out of state), and I am her POA. She has been living in her own house but can't for much longer--but the City of Seattle has been wanting to buy her property for years to make it into part of a park...hmmmmm.... So in effect, we have buyers for both houses, my parents in Portland with my sister, and no real reason to stay in Seattle providing my friend comes along with me. So a few weeks ago, I went to Portland after doing an insane amount of research on real estate websites (movoto and realtor.com are your friends) and went on a property tour which ended in my buying a house! Let me tell you, one of the great things about Seattle is that it is even more expensive than Portland, which works in your favor when you want to move! My friend and I will be sharing a really nice house (with room for visitors...hint, hint) in SE Portland, 10 minutes from my sister and parents. Since I am from there originally and went to college there, I will have some great friends close by (including my closest friend from Seattle--who moved there a couple of years ago). It should be fun, and I should be here off and on for the next few weeks. As of the 19th of June, we will be in Portland--just in time for my birthday on the 22nd! Happy Birthday to me, and I look forward to meeting some of the local Adamtopia folks there as well (see how I worked Adam in???). Maybe we can get together for an Adam summer celebration after the tour is over--I will have a yard with a barbecue! </img> Yay! I love it when a plan comes together! I have a friend here in Austin that used to live in Portland and she thinks my spirit home is Portland and keeps trying to convince me to visit. Now I have even more reason!

Thanks for everyone's good wishes -- it reminds me of the A-Team TV show from years ago, when Hannibal would say "I love it when a plan comes together" -- this one sure did! My friends have all been pretty blown away by how fast this has been, but I have wanted to move for years so it doesn't seem that fast to me -- except for the part where I have to pack and take care of a million details in the next two weeks. I'm taking 3 cats to the vet this week, having some drywall repaired and having a new microwave installed to replace a dead one...whew. And grandduchess--the next time you are in the area, I have room for the RV in the driveway! OMG, now I am kind of embarrassed yet strangely happy that I just posted what I did. Think I will leave it because I love like minds and all.

Don't know about anyone else, but carbs put me to sleep...lol! Protein, on the other hand, keeps me going. So, there may be a reason to his madness...lol! I have had Goji berries and they are awesome. In addition to that, I also wanted to see my new avi, which I grabbed a few weeks ago, but haven't managed to post since then. I look pretty dang awesome, I think!! LOL!! Yup! Me too! Carbs require an instant nap! LOL! NICE AVI!! ❤️ I've fallen asleep at my computer more than once after work when I eat something carby...lol! Tired too, but the carbs really do it. Thanks!! I really like it, too! Was hard to leave the old one, but times do change. My old one was when he was singing I want to Break Free, when he was in London. Was when he was still with Sauli & was singing it to him & pointed to him...lol! I don't think it was the show when he tore his pants, but that was one of my favs forever & ever!! LOL!!

To my Atop peeps who live in the hot zone known as Arizona -- I remember when I lived there, a pastor colleague of mine once quipped "welcome to summer in Phoenix, when the valley of the sun turns into the surface of the sun". Best quote about summer there ever! I spent 5 years in Mesa, and I remember going to Target, getting out of the car and seeing the heat waves coming off the pavement. Also, in the middle of the summer it was like living after the apocolypse in my neighborhood during daytime--no sounds of birds or people, just air conditioning compressors running. Great capture of what life is like during summer here in Arizona. We have hit record high temperatures the past two days and are expected to set another record tomorrow. And yes, you CAN fry an egg on the pavement. (I've done it.) At Walmart yesterday I bought a new steel trash bin for my kitchen. It wouldn't fit in the trunk so I put it on my car's front seat. Drove directly home (about 10-15 minute trip). Could not get the bin out of my car because the metal was so hot, I would have burned myself badly. Had to wait until dark before I could retrieve the bin safely.

We have numerous shelters available for the homeless in the Philly area when we have "code blue" conditions in the winter. I wonder if Arizona has shelters for the homeless and those who can't afford air conditioning when the heat is so high that it can cause death from heat strokes.

I had a little episode of heat exhaustion last week because I think I am invincible. And laugh if you want but I go out and water the gravel the Quail run across so the babies can make it to the water I have in the back for them. They run without moving their upper bodies and look like little ping pong balls as they run And it is not all bad, we get flowers like this! perspective on this is about 10 feet tall!

Phoenix has some shelters but not enough for all the homeless there. Phoenix is hot, and really hot in the summer sun, but it is not as deadly as a really cold winter night in the north. I lived in both Philly and Phoenix -- and I would pick Phoenix if I had to move to one of them. I lived in Phoenix for 9 years, left in 1993 and I still miss the dessert and the heat. I would take a 120 degree day over the -10 degree days I live with in NE Ohio. I am actually a lizard. **** New thread is up.
