From that article: "Even if contestants don't come out and say it, we can all spot someone [who is Christian]. The more that there are contestants that we can connect with — who we can say, 'That person is like me' — the more it will probably help drive viewership this year," Brokaw said, pointing to a moment on Tuesday's performance show when the judges praised Allen for helping other contestants work on their songs, which Brokaw said brought a knowing nod from Christians who know of his church background.
"We see what kind of person he is, and if you talk to people in his church they'll say they're not surprised." Brokaw said. "But people who don't know that he's a worship leader or actively involved in a Christian church might say, 'Why is he doing that? This is a competition!' Those are the values people want. We love it as much as anyone when Simon gets snarky, but watching a contestant perform with integrity and treating fellow contestants with grace and dignity speaks to us."This is the kind of comment that makes me see red. We all know that the other contestants spoke of Adam helping them with their songs. And that Adam performed with integrity and treated fellow contestants (not to mention the judges, the band, the musical director, etc.) with grace and dignity. Yeah, Mr. Brokaw, the GAY, JEWISH GUY did that. Those qualities are not unique to Christians, and certainly not demonstrated by all Christians. In fact, I see a lot of hate coming from certain Christian groups when they actively seek to deny rights to people who are Not Like Them. Grrrr!

Christian vs Jewish Gay made a difference in all those Sunday admonishments to the congregations to vote for one of their own. Anyway, Adam ended up with a crazy loyal fan base. That's proven to be a lot more valuable than the AI title.

murly -- what you said!!
That said, there is a wide spectrum of Christian belief and thought. The part I can't stand, is when people claim that they believe the bible is the literal word of God to deny civil rights to people -- this was used to defend slavery in the US, oppress women and gays, and even to discriminate against Catholics.
I think everyone is entitled to their own beliefs but they are not entitle to force them on me or other people. The challenge is that some people belong to religions that believe that God has charged them with spreading the Word of God. I have now learned to respond to the question, "Have you been saved?" with the response, "I'm Jewish, my people wrote the Book." End that conversation in about 4 seconds.
On a related topic -- I am pleased that Libertarian-leaning Republicans finally stood up and pledged campaign support for the Republican Senators who supported gay marriage in NY. As long as these right-wing Christians control the money flow to Republican politicians, change will be impossible. Hopefully, more people will understand the need to support open-minded, socially liberal Republicans and reclaim the party of Lincoln.

Off Topic but.... @buzzidol Jennifer Lopez AMERICAN IDOL DECISION: WILL NOT RETURN - ringsidereport.com bit.ly/jfG3AB Me feeling is that the singing reality shows morphed into shameless promotions for the judges - it is NOT about the contestants at all, it seems to be ALL about the judges... so, both JLo and ST had something to promote this past season and they got their platform to do so... (same with the VOICE)...I bet - next time promotion is needed - she will be willing to become a judge again.... On another Off Topic - I just came back from the Alexander McQueen exhibit at the Met... - A.M.A.Z.I.N.G!!! (a couple of Gaga's outfits are part of it...) what a talent! If you are in the area - try and go (but get there early, or you will be waiting on line for hours...) the only thing I was surprised about - the lack of human skulls... I expected to see plenty of them... there were a couple of shoulder bird and alligator skulls though... :D and lots of feathers, leather, shells, metal, and all kinds of "unexpected" materials.... blog.metmuseum.org/alexandermcqueen/blog.metmuseum.org/alexandermcqueen/objects/I am proud of my state for passing the law! I loved Cuomo's speech and I hope he was right in saying that NYS is the trend setter.... ... need Adam news desperately... Do we think that the Nov. 8 date is "real" or just a non-substantiated rumor?
