I hope you get knowledgeable responses on this. I'm also curious how RCA is as a label. It seems they've done right by Adam. I am starting to feel really nervous for Adam. There is so much pressure for the sophomore album to be a success. Although I am not a fan of Cook's music, I know he was very popular. The outlook for his album doesn't look good and this has me worried. Is there an AI stigma that will effect Adam as well. I hope the problem is strictly with the quality of the album and that Adam's will be amazing! I think the difference between DC and Adam is really about who has moved the most beyond the Idol bubble. The Idols who are doing the best have found significant numbers of fans who didn't necessarily follow them when the were on the show. It looks to me like DC has not moved into a new core fan group, and Adam has done a good job of starting that process. I really think Adam is going to be fine. He is smart, he has THE VOICE, and he seems to me to have a spectacular guardian angel sitting on his shoulder. Well I think the things that are hurting DC most this era is the looong wait between albums and the fact that musically he hasn't seemed to evolve. It's decent WGWG kinda music but his first single was never gonna light the world on fire. Now maybe if he would have had an amazing first single the long wait wouldn't have mattered but...it seems like a perfect storm of things working against him. Add in the fact that he hasn't done a good job of keeping himself in the public eye, tabloids, news, etc and yeah....this result is not surprising. I am not worried about Adam #2....I am just curious if these claims of RCA being sooo horrible are really accurate or just sour grapes. Or maybe there is a little truth to each side...I don't know cause I don't follow these things.

THAT kind of poppiness I can live with! Add that fabulous voice up front and OH YEAH! Excitement building & building. And I do not think there's much of a comparison between the reception Cook's sophomore album appears to be getting and what Adam2 will get. Plus we really don't know what Cook's album will sell first week. All we know is the failure of the first single. I guess single #2 is coming soon.

I'm a wait and see kind of girl with a side of impatience so yep I wanna know more about Adam #2 but I really don't have any concerns about it not working - that, is totally out of my hands. My job is just to buy as many copies as the budget can stand when it is released and gift it to all my friends.
I have never really been a fan of WGWG music. It all sounds the same to me. Bit like all the R&B rap collaborations sound the same also, insert singer, insert rapper lay down club beat and stir. What I think Adam has on his side is that he is a MALE pop artist - there really just aren't any (many) out there and that alone gives him an edge re breaking out of the pack in a way that DC, KA, LD can never do. On the down side that means that Adam's competition are the likes of Gaga and Katie Perry...

These still just seem to be links to youtube minus the 'youtube' page...still no way to actually download....unless there is something I am just not doing right. now i will try mia's suggestion and see if I can make that work! wish me luck...:-) The irreligious On the Roof seeking Proof links were so long that the only way I could post the links here was to shorten them on bitly. I took the first apart for you- bit.ly/g9vRnz
I didn't make the downloads. I find it very annoying that you just touch them and they download then you have to hunt on your computer for them. I could make sendspace downloads, but these are supposed to be better quality. I forgot, I couldn't make sendspace downloads because the files are too big. Sorry, I did these months ago and forgot. I forgot to say gelly is correct, all you do is touch them and they download. I think I downloaded the first one about 5 times before I caught on. I should note that in the reference section. Thanks, gelly.

Chunkey- I know even less about the music business than you do, but I'm not convinced that RCA is bad (or at least I don't think they've done wrong by Adam). The people who often seem the most upset with RCA also seem to have unrealistic expectations. Like the uproar over them not releasing a 3rd single, even though Ed was able to talk about how much money it costs to release singles to radio in the US and that Adam had been involved with the decision, and Q3 and others with industry experience seemed to think the information was disappointing but basically correct. Who people who lamented when RCA was promoting another one of their artists instead of Adam, except that Adam didn't have a new single out. Or people who...I think you get my point. RCA doesnt' always seem to be as innovative about marketing as they could be, and in the end its a business to them and a passion to us, but I just don t see any signs that Adam isn't getting the kind of material or artistic support that he needs to make the album he wants. But heh- what do I know?

People aren't buying cds like in the past. I read that Prince said he won't record any more , because artists aren't making any money. He said he'll wait until the industry sorts itself out. Lady Gaga's new cd, after basic giveaway by Amazon ,numbers haven't been great. I'm happy that Adam is smart enough not to give anything on his album away and I hope the songs don't leak for free. With all of that, IMO Money is to be made in concerts and merchandise.. the rest who knows. The record industry is in flux.

I guess if you like the soft rock sound, there are a lot of choices so no reason to run out and buy Cook. But if you like Adam's voice, he sounds like no one else. I guess I just to have confidence in Adam as he makes his second album. As was said earlier, he does seem to have an angel on his shoulder.

Wouldn't John Mayer and Michael Buble be in the same category as Adam? ;D To me, in Idol terms, John Mayer is a Kris Allen (with a better career), Michael Buble is a Clay Aiken (with better looks and better career), while Adam is a Freddie Mercury (with many years to live). Synths, occasional heavy beat and the occasional screamo don't sound much like John Mayer or Michael Buble.
