Can't wait for October for the RHPS! To be honest, I was at first afraid the general population would be so anti-remake of this classic that we'd have another go-round of "He's no Freddie," but instead replacing Freddie's name with "Meatloaf." Like Queen fans, the die-hards of the original RHPS can be ardent purists. I'm relieved to hear so many positive comments, pleased to hear that the press seems to be on board, and proud that Adam's name keeps rising to the top of so many articles for his talented performance! You're right, die-hards of the original RHPS can be brutal! This whole production has the risk of being subject to critical and generational snobbery -- "good but..." I am surprised by how little of that has surfaced so far, but it will appear. I guarantee it -- it is what some critics and some mega-fans live for. RHPS and Dr. Frank-N-Furter have cult status that makes it difficult to satisfy some fans and some critics. But Eddie? I can't see that the Eddie character (live or dead) has any iconic status. Adam was very smart about RHPS when he turned down the Dr. Frank-N-Furter role. If he took that part, I think he would have had to go through another round of "He's great but he no Tim Curry" no matter how good he was. Plus, there would have been an issue with a gay man playing a trans character. From what I've seen of Laverne Cox in the part, she is great and it would be just wrong to say she can't play a trans alien as well as Tim Curry. >> From a career standpoint, I also think Adam made a wise choice -- both from positioning and from the standpoint of where he allocates his time. If he played Dr. Frank-N-Furter, he would have not been able to do the summer festivals with Queen, X Factor AU and probably missed a couple featured vocalist opportunities. I would be very surprised if any critic writes, "Adam was great but he's no Meatloaf." I do expect there to be some lame thin-Eddie jokes. I always thought Meatloaf seemed out of place in the original RHPS -- and IMO Adam seems perfect for the part. This whole summer has been a win-win-win for Adam -- and the Fall looks like it may be ever betterer!

I somehow missed this when it was published back in October. I don't know who the author is, but I absolutely love what he has to say about Adam. "...…Relax, I’m not dissing your heroes. They’re my heroes too! The heroes that made us cry in inspirational fervor, made us vow to die for our art. I’m saying that someone has joined their ranks in a most decisive and explosive way. What gives me the right? Well, I’m not some tweenie looking for a new fix and I’m not an unqualified AMERICAN IDOL judge; I’m an old, cynical musician who’s heard it all – the good, the bad, the lip-synched, the auto-tuned – and Adam Lambert vocalizes like an Olympic torch amongst this white noise of putrid mediocrity. We live in a society inured to superlatives, so I simply state my case. Adam Lambert – the whole package: voice, looks, demeanor, CD sales, attitude, work ethic, wardrobe, image, performance – is the best vocalist in the world today. AND he’s got the stage strut, the arrogance, the humility, the self-effacing humor, the intelligence, the charm, the glam, the thrust, the hair, the heels…" www.poffysmoviemania.com/adam-lambert-fury-and-the-passion/

I did have to laugh because there are Glambert posts here and there, all over that site. "Can't wait to see Adam." and so on.

I'm not sure that is fair to pop music. Here are this week's Top 10 pop songs -- none of these artists are mediocre IMO -- and a few are excellent vocalists. 1 Cheap Thrills Sia Featuring Sean Paul2 This Is What You Came For Calvin Harris Featuring Rihanna3 Ride twenty one pilots4 Don't Let Me Down The Chainsmokers Featuring Daya5 One Dance Drake Featuring WizKid & Kyla6 Can't Stop The Feeling!
