10 Songs Q+AL Should Really Perform
My response to Spin or Bin Music’s post

Spin or Bin Music posted an article titled “3 Songs We Want Queen + Adam Lambert To Perform At The Singapore Grand Prix 2016!” Before I read the article, a list of wish-songs rolled through my head. Mostly Queen songs, a few classic Queen covers, some Adam songs – all songs Q+AL have never performed. Then I read the SOBM list. {see below} Seriously? They will definitely play three of the four songs listed and are likely to play all four.

Sure, it would not be a Queen concert without WWRY & WATC. And AOBTD is Adam’s favorite Queen song. And who doesn’t want to hear Adam and the band let loose on SBTL. But one of my wish-songs would be so much more interesting.

1. “You Take My Breath Away”

This has been #1 on my Q+AL since the first whispers of a collaboration back in 2009. It is one of Freddie’s most emotional compositions, and the lyrics, minor scale and vocal layering could have been written for Adam.

2. "I'm In Love With My Car"

It's an F1 race, so I have to include Queen’s car song.

3. "White Queen (As It Began)"

Queen last performed this song in 1978. It's about time they brought it back!

Brian May composed this song with contrasting acoustic and heavy metal sections. The song was inspired by a girl that Brian knew in college (who he loved from afar, and eventually became his lifelong friend) and “The White Goddess” by Robert Graves.

4. "The March of the Black Queen"

Queen never performed this entire song live because, like “Bohemian Rhapsody,” it is too complicated to perform live. They figured out BoRhap, so I am sure they can figure out how to conquer the Black Queen.

5. "She Makes Me (Stormtrooper in Stilettos)"

Brian wrote and sang this one, but this is one that Mr. Lambert just needs to sing. And they need to include a track with the special effects on it – NYC police vehicle sirens and deep-breathing sounds at the end.

And mostly, I want to hear Adam say the title. Really, even if he doesn't sing it!

6. "Bijou"

Just because I love this haunting, beautiful song. Written by Freddie and Brian, this is one of my favorite Queen tracks. Q+PR performed this song with Brian on guitar and a recorded Freddie vocal. Adam could sing the vocal live and it would be the first full live performance.

7. "I'm Going Slightly Mad"-“Cuckoo” medley

Freddie wrote this song inspired by Noël Coward's one-liners. It is a totally over-the-top, camp-fest. Yes, this is something Adam should just perform. Perhaps they could figure out how to do a medley with “Cuckcoo.” Yes, I am sure they can figure this one out. (Adam really needs to be in a straight jacket for this one!!)

8. "Innuendo"

This is #8 on the list, but that does not mean it is low on my wish-list. I just was being slightly chronological. One more from Queen’s last studio album and one more that they never performed.

9. Jailhouse Rock (Elvis Presley cover)

This was a Queen setlist staple in the ‘70’s – performed over 500 times. And Adam would nail it.

Pretty please!

Amidst their highly successful Summer Festival Tour, Queen + Adam Lambert will be stopping by our shores to perform at The Singapore Grand Prix on the 17th of September at The Padang Stage (zone 4).

While waiting for their arrival, we decided that we're gonna have a little fun with this and pretend that we have some sort of control over the setlist of that night. Remember the keyword here is PRETEND. But we can always imagine right?

Already, they’ve packed stadiums across the world and drew in over 12 million TV viewers for their 2014 New Year’s Eve live performance on BBC.
