I guess we here in Finland all love Canada .. Canada is so much like our own country.. A lot of Finnish immigrants there.. hahahaa.. I guess a lot of them at the beginning were true communists.. not the Stalin-like communists.. but the ones who wanted equal rights for women and better working conditions for people overall.. ))) Yes.. I guess Canada is more loved here than USA.. we sort of connect ourselves more to them.. But lets not go ever for politics!!! I am smiling:)))

Just popping in to wish those that celebrate a happy 4th. Thought I do some catching up here but it doesn't look like its gonna happen. I'm on my way out the door to actually leave Manhattan! A friend wants to go to Coney Island to walk the boardwalk and get a hotdog so we are taking the subway to Bklyn. It's a long ride, Coney Is is at the end of the line. I'm sure we'll chat on the way out but the ride back. Not gonna be fun. Jersey is closer. I feel deprived. I haven't been to Coney Island since I was in 4th grade. That was a few years ago. Have fun and eat lots of cotton candy and a funnel cake.

Total taxes in the US are not that much lower than in Northern European countries.... Federal Income Tax - 15% to 33% (graduated by income) State Income Tax - 0% to 12.3% (graduated by income, in 43 states) Local Wage Tax - not everywhere but usually 3% to 4%. Social Security - 4.2% by employee, 4.2% by employer (8.4% if you are self employed) Medicare - 1.45% by employee, 1.45% by employer (2.9% if you are self employed) State Unemployment and Disability - varies by state and company experience and industry - 0.6% to 11% Then there is state and local sales taxes -- can be 6% to 10%. And gas taxes, and airport fees, and telephone surcharges and import tariffs and .... Roll it all up and the US has low taxes compared to other developed countries -- here is a nicely done comparative chart: www.taxpolicycenter.org/briefing-book/background/numbers/international.cfmThe main difference between the US and the other countries on the list is how we spend the money -- much more on defense and debt service, less on social spending.

You did? I got sick to the thought that Adam might see it. :-/ Guess I'm too sensitive and I shouldn't be. :( Eh, Adam is a big boy, I doubt he would give a shit. I mean I doubt he would even see it in his huge feed, but if he did no whoop because he has been tweeted much meaner trollish shit before. I just LOL'D because some people have waaay too much time on their hands. I have my own~feelings about this person, but to think someone would take the time to do this just makes me shake my head and LOL. It's ridic because in the grand scheme of things, why care so much about this woman? Srsly. I hope it's now a grown ass woman who made this twitter account, because that would be super face palm-y. *breaks out popcorn gifs* I am sure (and I mean sure) that Adam is aware of the issues.

Yes.. I dont know how an society can go on living a good life without taxation and not caring the people who do not have it so good as the others do. We Finnish people always say that our country is a small one.. it is as big as Italy or Germany.. but we are very few here.. only 5 millions of people to take care of the huge road system (which is after every winter in a bad shape) .. a lot people living in remote places, who are being given the same service .. like health centers, schools and so on (very few doctors want to go to remote places to work).. I guess we should here in Finland just gather all the people in the southern regions and admit that this is just a too big job for us. lol:))) Anyways honey darlings.. there in USA.. you are so nice.. wonder why when I spent 2 yrs in SF I did not meet you!! .. I have noticed that the most adorable US people I have met has happened out of USA or in the internet.. I guess some people there are afraid of foreign folks.. they resent our foreign accent when talking.. and so on.. woah: ))) so happy that my accent is not to be heard here:)) Anyways .. what I have been wondering in you Adam-fans.. (whirling).. that you are afraid of that Adam will not make it.. I have to say.. no panick!!! .. Adam is a huge talent who has gained so much notority all over the world just because of his skill to SING.. Adam could sing with il Divo.. with anyone and outshine them all!!! No need to win every little contest.. : Hi finnrita!!! Thought your bolded quote above was so interesting. I don't know that people are afraid of foreign folks (I love them!), but I think people get into their own "mode" in day-to-day life. I meet far more people while traveling or online because you are in a position of being inherently social. When you are doing your work (and actually, I have to attend a lot of events to socialize, and do meet and network, but I rarely run into the same people in a meaningful way), there is a tendency to go on autopilot and not take things past the chit-chat level. I have far deeper discussions with people online than with those I see everyday or have known for years. It's an interesting phenomenon. That is because your were in San Francisco which should not be confused with America! Paris is wonderful but does not represent France; SF and NY are great to visit, but not very typical of America (I have lived in NY and north of SF -- not the most friendly places I have lived -- no insult intended.) In fact, I which more international visitors would visit Iowa and Ohio and.....well, the big middle. (Back to "work"......)

Well.. I was saying about this not getting easily friends in USA.. and very easily getting lonely as Sauli said.. I have been there.. In Finland you go out in a bar.. start to talk and the same night you will be the best of friends.. in USA you go out and everybody says hello and how are you doing.. and then.. they never contact you again!! I dont say that I am feeling a little bit of bitterness.. (LOL) .. but I understand what Sauli says.. you are great ..yeah..whow.. and then nothing. )))
