NOTW is indeed now defunct and the scandal surrounding it will hopefully mean a shake up of all British newspapers, especially the tabloids. It may even have implications for the future of News International/News Corporation.
It's a messy saga involving the tabloids, the Police and the Government. The heart of the recent furore is that NOTW was paying a private investigator to hack into the mobile phones of the aides to Princes William and Harry, various celebrities and politicians. And it was revealed by another newspaper last Monday that they hacked into the phone of an abducted teenager to listen to the messages left by her friends and family. When the inbox got full up, the private investigator for the newspaper deleted messages to make room for new messages. The poor girl had already been murdered but these actions gave her family false hope that she might still be alive.
It turns out since this was revealed that they also hacked the phones of families of other murdered children, and families of the victims of the 7/7 terrorist attack in London and families of soldiers killed in Iraq and Afghanistan.
There is going to be two inquiries into everything, including one about the wider culture of the print media in this country. I hope they will address the fact the tabloids regularly just make stuff up. It might be too little time before Adam's next foray into the UK for this inquiry to have an impact, but times they are a-changing for newspapers here.

lol to my stories you guys... I've only shared some of em : I don't think I ever shared the dentist x 2, the supermarket x 3, the lingerie shop, the mechanic, the anybody who wants to listen to my stories about my fandom and love of GNAFL. I don't care a rat's arse about whether my fantarding is appropriate, or not, to others in my real life. My love of AFL is who I am NOW! If my friends don't get it, it's all fine... that's their right... but I make no excuses for who I am and what gives me joy, fun, laughter and knowledge. Adam AND his glorious, fun filled, fandom makes a difference in MY world. So, thank you to you all

Gatzmadam! So great story again! I told my brother a couple of days ago about my Adam addiction. He was wondering why I had a Twitter account and I had to tell him that only because I want to see what is going on in Twitter about Adam. To my great surprise my brother and his wife knew Adam and they were equally praising his voice. As we talked we were sitting in the auditorium of Opera Festival waiting for Don Giovanni to begin and we had some very hard times trying to concentrate on the opera and not on the conversation about Adams voice... : Hope we´ll get some nice news or pictures today! At least there was one tweet yesterday, so we got one drop of water to our desert! We might survive...

Probably shouldn't reveal this random fact. but the guy doing this interview is Dan Wooton (sp?) who is actually a kiwi - you may or may not pick that up from his accent! He left NZ for UK several years ago & obviously got into this tabloid journalism thing..... eri9.. really this dude is a Kiwi???? I can't depict a 'downunder' accent at all. But good to know - TY Still smiling happily that you de-lurked and that I *think* you will make Atop happy, cos you are a numbers gurl too! The numbers thread here is kinda of quiet at the moment, but as #2 approaches ALL international stats will be thirstily taken on board. Even now, I think the NZ iTunes no's would be appreciated.......

Q3 - squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeing so hard for your randomness about Montreal concert \o/\o/\o/. Way to go gurl! I kinda did the same thing when I made the decision to fly to the US and meet up with (apart from internet connections) total strangers. But, since then, I truly believe that when #2 tour happens the meet ups and connections within the fandom, all these months down the track, are gonna be fabulosity personified and fabulosity squared. Oh God.... rambling now - nearly 9.00pm here, have food cooking and need to go to bed : I have TWO frigging different hospital appointments tomorrow.... yawnzzzzzzzzzzz... Catch up with y'all tomorrow

At least some of that has got to be legally actionable I hope. Truly despicable.
