Wow -- I am not going anywhere near the Madonna vs. Gaga debate. But want to say that Madonna is highly underrated as an innovator, performer and business person. And -- much to my surprise they are related -- popcrush.com/madonna-lady-gaga-distant-cousins/ So I will stay far away from this potential family feud. But most importantly, they are both on Adam's fav artist list. ETA: I think we have to wait 10 years for the Madge vs. Stephani debate. JMHO YMMV. But many artist who rise so rapidly cannot sustain it for long. Madonna is one of the few who succeeded.

I know people have very mixed feelings about Lady Ga Ga as do I but in her defense she is a great supporter of equal rights for the gay community, she is a very talented singer, songwriter, and was brillant on SNL with Justin Timberlake. Frankly, I think she's here to stay. People use to complain about Madonna years ago, myself included, and, IMO, Lady Ga Ga is much more talented. Is she as good a business woman? IDK. But she is a force to be recognized as someone who is having a huge impact on our society. And if she's willing to use her influence for civil rights more power to her. And, I will repeat, I think she is a great singer, song writer, musician. I just came back to type the same thing and saw your tweet. I, too, remember the complaints about Madonna. I, too, was one of the complainers. So this time around, I'm just going to enjoy the talent.

ETA: I think we have to wait 10 years for the Madge vs. Stephani debate. JMHO YMMV. But many artist who rise so rapidly cannot sustain it for long. Madonna is one of the few who succeeded. I agree. There have been many very talented and creative artists who have captured the public consciousness for a time but today are on the "what happened to" list. Madonna and a handful of others have managed to reinvent themselves successfully over many years. In Madonna's case she has very cleverly created "gaps" so that each new incarnation had some space from the one before. I think Gaga needs to step back for a while and give everyone a break so that we can see her next move as fresh not just more of the same from the self proclaimed "mother monster". Of course YMMV. I would like to see Adam have a career more like Madonna.

Surprised by the negative comments about not appreciating Madonna when she first became popular -- although I remember many comments at the time that she would fade away. ITA the "boy-toy" image of the first two albums were pretty easy to dismiss except that it was great dance music but by 1986 with "True Blue" she was clearly hear to stay. In a pre-global era, "True Blue" was #1 in 28 countries -- so clearly connected with a lot of people all over the world. Plus TB included "La Isla Bonita" which Gaga semi-covered with Alejandro. So it seems the music is still good enough to get airplay 25 years later -- albeit as an homage.
Madonna - eleven studio albums, six compilation albums, three soundtrack albums, three live albums, three extended plays, three remix albums and seventeen box sets. SEVEN Billboard 200 #1 albums, and ELEVEN #1 album in the UK. 75 official singles -- 12 #1 songs in the US.
According to the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), she is the best-selling female rock artist of the 20th century and the second top-selling female artist in the United States, behind Barbra Streisand, with 64 million certified albums in the US. In 2008, Billboard magazine ranked Madonna at number two, behind only The Beatles, on the Billboard Hot 100 All-Time Top Artists, making her the most successful solo artist in the history of the Billboard chart.
I really respect what Gaga has done but at least for the foreseeable future Madonna > Gaga IMO.
And, since I think Madonna did a really good job with her music and videos, I wish that Gaga would move back to doing her own songs.

I downloaded it but I don't have a clue how to utilize it. Is there any documentation to learn how to use Free Studio? Glamtealady - you can make a dvd from your download using www.dvdvideosoft.com Free Studio. It has about 24 programmes that you can use to take direct from youtube or convert original stuff. It can be used for TV, phones etc. to MP3, MP4 and other formats. I've used it now for about 2 years and found it usually has a conversion for what I want. They also have a really good support line. I think it's well worth a look. Thanks I will give a try tonight.

OT a bit. Remember Gaga's meat dress? I wonder if she and the designer knew that Anne Simonton (a model turned activist) famously wore meat dresses (2 occasions/different dresses) to protest the Miss California pageant when it was held in Santa Cruz. She and activist/newscaster Niki Craft thought of the idea and teamed with costume designer B Modern to design the pieces. The evening gown was made of layered slices of round lunch meat and trimmed with links of sausage. It really was amazing, stylish, well fitting. There was also a shorter cocktail dress. I think one can find a photo of the shorter dress via google, but I haven't been able to find a photo of the long dress. These really were works of art, but no "meat purse" as I recall.
OK, not trying to knock Gaga. I think she is very talented. Just wanted to tell the meat dress story and the Gaga convo gave me a connection...

My two cents on the great Gaga debate. I think she is very talented but she most likely surrounds herself with idiots and syncophants (reading some ontd posts about her creative director Laurianne has been very enlightening) and that could hurt her in the long run if she isn't' careful. And that I would like her a whole lot better if she never ever spoke. LMAO. Ever since this whole mother monster/litte monsters bullshittery took place I cannot bear to listen to her speak without my gag reflex triggering. It very well may be genuine but to me it seems ungenuine and creepy and cult like (lol say what you want abt the 'berts being cult like too, )but if Adam ever started calling himself Master Glambert and acting like you were his minions I would be throwing him major shade as well). Srsly just dump that monster shit, dump the over the top I bleed for my fans and my music comes from God to free the gays pep talks and take the pretension down a few pegs and I could totally appreciate the kick ass chick that's buried underneath a ridiculous costume and an even more ridiculous persona. Oh and no more songs like BTW and Americano please. And we'll be totes cool. Yep.
That's not much is it? Lmao
Pardon any typos this was typed on my phone bc my pc is getting fixed
