Adam was pretty clear -- they co-wrote the song. That means that Adam gets 50% of the songwriter royalties is he has 50% of the publishing rights. There is no way to get around that portion. But, as far as I can tell, this song isn't registered with BMI or ASCAP, so no way to confirm writing credits. However, I doubt that Adam would tweet that if he did not have a co-write credit. This make it different than to Take One demos -- where Adam was just a session artist paid to sing someone else's demos. Scott's name. He's written a crapload of stuff! Thanks Cindy -- no Adam listed, unless he has a side deal with J Scott G -- Adam doesn't hold any publishing rights. There were so many Live the Life's I missed it and it was staring right at me! (Lesson: do not post while working!!) So Adam wrote it with J Scott G, sang the vocal, but is not a co-writer and is just a featured artist. Looks to me like Adam is getting nothing from this. And I do not care what J or his people post. ETA: I am pretty sure that Adam's management was aware of his tweet before he sent it. Just like he didn't make any agreements with J Scott G unilaterally. He really needed to respond to this because there is too much noise in Twitter space about it. Otherwise it would just get louder. Now, since Adam tweeted it will die down -- as it should. |
