Forbes Magazine: Adam had a very good year

Every year Forbes Magazine estimates the earnings of the most popular American Idols. Adam narrowly missed the list last year, but this year things have changed a bit. Adam came in #2 tied with Chris Daughtry.

Not bad for a theater “kid” who didn’t have enough credibility to be a successful recording artist and who ruined his career with his “disastrous” AMA performance in November 2009.

Forbes Magazine Top Earning American Idols list:

1. Carrie Underwood – $20 million
2. (tie) Adam Lambert and Chris Daughtry – $6 million
4. Fantasia Barrino – $4 million
5. Jordin Sparks – $3 million
6. Kelly Clarkson – $2.5 million
7. Jennifer Hudson – $2 million
8. Kellie Pickler – $1.8 million
9. Clay Aiken – $1.5 million
10. (tie) Katharine McPhee, David Archuleta, David Cook – $1 million

Kris Allen, Lee DeWyze, Crystal Bowersox and Ruben Studdard narrowly missed the list this year.

These numbers are based on estimated pretax income earned from May 2010 to May 2011, before subtracting agent and manager fees. The totals were compiled with the help of data from Pollstar, RIAA and others, as well as extensive interviews with industry insiders including managers, concert promoters, publicists, agents and, in some cases, the musicians themselves.

Whataya Want with Adam Lambert "Behind the Music"

VH1's Behind The Music has returned for another season (actually, I was shocked it was still on the air), and on Sunday, August 7th at 10 PM EST, Adam Lambert will receive the show's signature melodramatic treatment.

The special will chronicle Lambert’s personal and professional life over the years. From realizing he was gay in the 6th grade, to coming out at 18 years old and moving to Hollywood, the singer’s closest friends and family weigh in on his journey.

The show will go into his European tour of Hair (when he was 19), his early stage work, and of course his rise to superstardom. His parents and friends will weigh in, as well as his American Idol pal Kris Allen.

So today's question is, what do you hope is included in this portrait? Are there any burning questions about Adam you've always wanted answered? Any particular moment of his career you want to see explored?

Here a few few moments I'd like to see.

His runner-up status on both the AfterElton.com Gay List and the 2011 AfterElton.com Hot 100, and his win for Favorite Gay Musician and Favorite Music Video in our Visibility Awards.

How he handles it when twits tweet homophobic idiocy.

The American Music Awards controversy (I'll be shocked if this isn't addressed).
