On a lighter note.....since Cheeks was mentioned above, here's what he's up to today at ComicCon with his new "husband" promoting Jane Espenson's new web series.

Thanks 4Msrmyn for all the memories of the first SF/Warfield show! A friend who had planned to go with me had some family events cause a change in plans, so husby (who had missed going to FS with me) went. We had a great time - first the pre-party, then actually a lot of fun in line, and, of course, a great show (even though the sound was too loud that night - improved for second SF show).
I can hardly wait for Adam to tour again! I'm saving up for good times to come-
Peace and light to Amy Winehouse and her family and friends.

The news of the passing of Amy Winehouse is so sad. So young and tragic. Her parents have lost their child. I wish we could post this OT news without trying to tie it to Adam and let her rest in peace. I really would rather not discuss the addictions Adam DOESN'T have. RIP Amy. Well said. ETA: armchair quarter-backing is inevitable when this happens, and it's all over the web, but being happy, having a good support system, not being famous, etc. are not guarantees against mental illness and/or accompanying addictions or self-medication, nor is the opposite necessarily true. Thanks. And there are many people who suffer or die of addiction who are not famous. We never hear of them. Fame is not necessarily the bringer of addiction. A famous person might have addiction tendencies that have nothing to do with fame, as many everyday people who are addicted know. Although Adam appears to be a happy, well-adjusted, big partier, I would never assume to know what goes on in his life out of the spot light. I just feel bad for people like Amy and know that addiction knows no bounds when it comes to profession, upbringing, etc.

On a lighter note.....since Cheeks was mentioned above, here's what he's up to today at ComicCon with his new "husband" promoting Jane Espenson's new web series. @teamhusbands is a great concept for a show and is very current. It has great backers Jane Esperson (Buffy, Gilmore Girls) and Jeff Greenstein (Desperate Housewives). www.allmediany.com/details_article.php?art_id=888Espenson said it was time to make sexuality incidental. Husbands seems like it will take this idea one step further by actually focusing on a gay marriage without making the “gay” aspect the focal point. Hopefully, the show will succeed, because, as its website states, “For too long, newlywed comedy has been defined as comedy between one man and one woman.”A series like this could be a big step forward towards social acceptance of same sex couples. Have we had a comedy with two main characters that just happen to be gay? Is this common in other parts of the world?

This same thought ran through my head. I loved Amy's voice and am so sad but relieved to know that this won't be Adam. True... He seems to be too AWARE of what he does, but I keep being worried about his love of "social drinking"... the problem for me is that he "socializes" lots = great!, but that translates into "drinking lots" as well... I really don't know when and how the "addiction problem" starts, and when it is just "having a drink for fun"... anyway, lets not even go there...it is obvious that Amy was in real trouble for a while...very sad...she looked like Gaga a bit... The mechanism is unknown but it is pretty clear that some people are predisposed for addiction :(

This Amy Winehouse thing really packs a punch.
I saw plenty of this in the Vietnam era. Friends even. I had a friend that was once in the need of a fix so badly that he screamed at me to hold the belt so he could shoot up. Yes, I held the belt. I saw the condition of him and knew there was no choice. I just made sure I wasn't in that position again.
edit: Oh yes, there was a choice. That would have been to let him convulse and wind up in the hospital. The police would have definitely been involved. Which would have been nothing compared to the beating I would have gotten from my mother. I would have probably gotten thrown out of school too. I was a straight A student.
