The Amy Winehouse news is so tragic and serves as another reminder that talent like Adam's combined with his common sense, family and friend support, and awareness that life is about many things, not just success and "party hardy" is rare. It also validates his statements on Idol about his age perhaps being a benefit. Living and struggling through the early years, acquiring close and talented friends, and seeing what fame can do to some people may all be blessings in disguise when sudden fame and pressure become your life. Adam is really one of the most stable and normal celebrities I've seen. Amy's sad ending should make us all appreciate that even more. A big shout out to Sauli, mom and dad, even Neil, his bandmates and dancers, the Cherrys, Ferras, etc. for their part in it. Once again a perfect post keyboard. Thank you.

I don't think Adam was ever in the "deep end." I am very glad that he handles the ride of celebrity as well as he does. It's a very hard road for those young people who don't have a foundation of love and support. RIP Amy. Well, there was theoretically a six-month time frame after he broke up with Cheeks (as I recall from the RS text) were he was...overendulging in multiple sorts of self-destructive behavior. Things have turned around. Adam now has success, he has money, but - most importantly - Adam is HAPPY. He has love, he has family, he has friends, he has the freedom to actively engage in the creativity he craves. Yes, there are challenges, but he comprehends he has the strength to meet them. He has every reason to live. And he seemingly KNOWS it. I don't remember who said that a good source relayed to them that Adam himself said he was so happy, and was taking the time to enjoy what he has earned. Compare that to Gaga, who seemly like one of the most hardworking, but utterly joyless entertainers around. Someday, she's just going to fall off her hamster wheel. Gaga's miserable exhaustion against Adam's joy. As a stan who gets way too involved in stanning, I find watching Adam easier on my heartstrings.

The news of the passing of Amy Winehouse is so sad. So young and tragic. Her parents have lost their child. I wish we could post this OT news without trying to tie it to Adam and let her rest in peace. I really would rather not discuss the addictions Adam DOESN'T have. RIP Amy.

Have missed your posts, Keyboard! I always wish for Adam that he can maintain balance in all ways in the crazy business of entertainment. Having such strong support in his life is a foundation other artists may not have the gift of. He certainly has expressed his appreciation for his friends and family. I agree his genuinely kind disposition and down-to-earth nature are also his best allies. Thanks for posting!

4Msrmyn Thank you SO much for all the wonderful info you put together about the SF Warfield show. It was the first of 5 GNT shows I attended, so this particular one means a lot to me. I can't even begin to imagine how much time you must have spent on it and all the others, you are amazing!!
Danilo85 Happy Birthday!! Hope you have a wonderful day! I always appreciate the pictures you post on Atop.

ETA: armchair quarter-backing is inevitable when this happens, and it's all over the web, but being happy, having a good support system, not being famous, etc. are not guarantees against mental illness and/or accompanying addictions or self-medication, nor is the opposite necessarily true.
