Sometimes what is obvious is the hardest to notice! Like the word "shipping" ... I've understood the meaning, but hadn't realized it came from the word relation ship! Duh !! :-[ Hi JustKaren!!!! Been meaning to ask you if my avi is properly proportioned, and if not, can you tell me how to fix it? Thanks!!

Dream job. Dressing Adam. Isn't that Sutan doing the eyebrows? Yes, dream job, dressing Adam. Erotic dream job, undressing Adam. Still do not know how to post a pic. Dang it anyway. I do it the long way, but it works. Click on photo you want to post here. Click view image info. It should automatically highlight the one you want. At top of reply box you will see a photo. Click on that, then paste the link between the brackets, with no spaces. You can also type the brackets with img inside first one, and /img inside one at end. You can check if it posted by using preview button at bottom of reply box. Photo should show up automatically. I am, however, twit pic challenged. :(

I had not noticed it was usually about two men -- but of course it is. Sometimes what is obvious is the hardest to notice! According to Wiki the term shipping dates back at least to 1996 in x-files news groups but the entire idea of creating relationships between fictional characters began in the late 60's early 70's with Kirk/Spock stories in fan newsletters. This is the earliest fan fiction. Real People Fiction was initially totally verbotten and has only recently come out of the closet so to speak. When I first discovered fanfiction both Gen (non-sexual), Het(heterosexual) and Slash in the early 90's there was an extremely strong bias against RPF complete with posters being banned from sites and sites being shut down because of it. For that matter it was very hard to maintain sites for slash at that time because it was often shut down as porn. As for those shippers who actually believe the relationships exist it is no different from the Role-play gamers who were delusional about their fantasy games. It is not the shipping that is the problem it is the fact that those people don't have a firm grasp on reality. No reason to condemn shipping in general just because of a few flakes. I've played RPG's since 1978 and there were cases of people taking it all too seriously but it is not the fault of the game. A delusional person can be delusional about just about anything. The vast majority of shippers are quite aware it is just for fun and a lot of the so called delusional people are just play acting at being serious about it. They actually take great delight in convincing people that they are serious. I can recall many times as a gamer when faced with people who were disapproving we often amped up our "this is real" act just to freak out the mundanes as we called them. If you weren't part of our crowd you would never really be allowed to know what we really thought. My general rule of thumb is that until I have spent time with someone in person I don't presume to judge how crazy they are. It is entirely too easy to label people as crazy and judge them for their OTT behavior but if we learn anything from Adam I hope it is to not be so quick to put people in a box and to be willing to get to know them. Sometimes when I see conversations on the board about how cray cray so and so is I wonder if the posters have considered just how crazy they themselves might appear to others outside the fandom especially as many of us here have talked about how crazy our friends and family think we are. Let me let you in on another little known fact. You can probably find ship material on just about any combination of fictional characters no matter or perhaps because of how unlikely the pairing. That probably also applies to celeb fic as well. Also pretty much every taboo is covered as well. Don't delve too deep unless you've got a pretty thick skin. Pretty much anything that can squick people out has been done.

Just so I am clear on this, the shippers are just playing, right? no, unfortunately they are dead serious. That's so pathetic... :-/

I had not noticed it was usually about two men -- but of course it is. Sometimes what is obvious is the hardest to notice! ETA: Thanks mariep -- I knew it looked familiar but couldn't place it. I did a google search and found that male/male shipping is also known as slash. This is what it said which made me seriously LOL Kirk and Spock? for real? that's awesome Want to really blow your mind? The closest thing to actual officially published Slash are two books by Sondra Marshak and Myra Culbreath called "The Price of the Phoenix" and "The Fate of the Phoenix". Basically Spock forges a Vulcan Marraige bond with Kirk. In the published books it is just a psychic bond but Marshak and Culbreath were well known in the fan community as slash fanfic authors.

Thanks for re-posting this! I was too lazy to go and bring it over, but I thought it was really cool. So seldom does anyone acknowledge Adam's gushing comments. He's always so generous with his praise and I love when it comes back to him. He is definitely building good-will. I choose to believe the community notices, and it seems even more striking to me that he continues to spread the goodwill in spite of the fact that it is seldom returned. What a great, positive roll model he is!!!!!!!!!! I luuurrve him....... I know the conversation has moved on but I am just catching up. I don't know if this has anything to do with Guy noticing Adam's comments but Monte reconnected with Guy on twitter on Feb 16: @monterrific Monte Pittman @guyoseary Guy! - It's Monte! - follow me! 16 Feb via web And Guy followed him. Monte must know him through Madonna.

I just want to share with you............ I am soooooooooo very envious of you and where you live!! I can smell the orchids here in the desert. Aww, thanks, bb. I love the desert, actually. I find it beautiful. So many colors. I have to admit, who would believe that cacti can actually be so beautiful?????!!!!!! When I got home from work today and read through the thread, I so had to laugh to myself. Adam has over 800,000 stalkers, he accidentally tweets out the word Sauli and all hell breaks loose. I feel better knowing I am not the only one Did I understand this correctly, he was going to DM someone and accidentally tweeted to all his followers? I hope when album #2 is released all of these followers are CD buyers!

That was just speculation, but it seems like a reasonable guess.

In light of Adam's current Twitter avi, here's a mini spam of some renderings. Once again (for the ones without artist tag) if folks know who should be credited, please tell me. Thx. Is that a painting or a photograph? if that's a painting that's incredible! Adam has some amazingly talented people in his fandom that's for sure..... I had the same thought but then nosticed that The NOSE is WRONG has some artistic license applied to it = painting VERY talented ...
