It seems we hear these same speculations about Adam every time Idol is set to name new judges. In 2013, I know it was much more that fans and the media speculating -- he was in active discussions about a deal. And since at least two very reliable press sources are reporting he is in the mix this time, I think it is real discussions.

I go with #2. *** I think ABC needed a big name and someone with a lot of female fans between 18 and 35 years old to convince advertisers to buying Idol packages -- and hard to think of anyone better for the target demo than Katy Perry. I know nothing about the buisness. But you would think Katy, Adam, Daughtry would be a great panel. Almost impossible to imagine Ryan + Katy, Adam and Chris. There will almost certainly be some diversity on the panel -- but racial/ethnic and musical genre diversity. I think they may go for really big names which has been a winning formula for The Voice. Network execs don't like to take chances. They only reason Idol had relatively unknown judges in 2002 was because it was just a summer fill-in show, not important.

Would Adam not be considered a really big name? At least he is known to the idol audience. Well reputable sources say he is in the mix. But who knows. Depends on what direction they go in.

Having said that, I am not sure at this point in his life/career he wants to do Idol. It could be very lucrative, but I don't think money is a top priority for him. It might be a boost to his fame and recognition, but fame is not his goal. One of his driving motivations is artistic creativity. I don't see Idol offering that to him. He is, at his core, an entertainer, a performer. Idol was his launching pad, but being a judge is not, or at least should not be about performing or entertaining. I question if he wants to make that kind of a commitment to reality TV rather than doing something new and artistically exciting. My thoughts on the views bolded above. I think it is hard to know what his inner desires might be. People in general often say things in cautionary ways at times in order to not sound " over reaching", yet have desires and goals hidden in the heart. If money was not important....I cannot figure out why he would do Queen touring, his own touring, X-Factor, Rocky Horror show, etc etc and not be HOME for more than 2 months in a year plus a few months. He said in an article interview in today's thread...he wants to be busy. I say---Strike while HOT AND WANTED! And nice to be wanted! I think if chosen for a role on Idol, he can still do other things. Adam would still have 8 months a year to do other exciting and creative ventures. If Queen has a big gig planned, they can get a guest person in to take his place --- as with Keith Urban. If he is not chosen to have a role on Idol---I will still be checking out Atop, and be hoping for news to fill these threads I read everyday. When I think of the money these judging gigs offer, and the contacts in the business....well it could also open even more opportunities. Ie. Jennifer Lopez is starring in Shades of Blue---and co-producing with Ryan Seacrest. I do not think that would have happened had they not worked together on Idol! Added: Who knows which artists are really in negotiations. The tweet put out by Shosh...well, John Legend was bantered about on the thread. Not my choice...nor Daughtry....but lots of top tier artists who might consider the job.

Question is does Idol consider Adam a Top Tier name? IF sources are to beleived and they are in talks with Adam. You have to be inclined yes. But well that mean they well offer Adam a judging position? i have no idea. No one does at this stage. I don't even think idol do at this point.

He said in an article interview in today's thread...he wants to be busy. I say---Strike while HOT AND WANTED! And nice to be wanted! Of course we are all speculating. But I would bet a month's salary on Adam being permanently addicted to performing and entertaining. I have a sister who is, and I recognize it. She has been performing professionally for almost 50 years now. I have a video of her from a cruise where she was a passenger. The bar pianist invited her to sit in for a number or two. In short order not only was she singing and playing, but she had the bar patrons singing along and playing glasses, spoons and coins as an extemporaneous percussion section. She couldn't just sit at the piano and make music, she had to share it and involve an audience in the experience. Of course, she loves being paid, she loves being challenged with complex music styles and compositions, but if that is not available, she will take any gig.... like playing oldies for dances at retirement communities for free. If Adam is similar to my sister in his passion for and need to entertain, QAL is not foremost about the income (tho' that is a wonderful perk). QAL lets him perform at the highest level: challenging music, the best musicians in the business, the utmost in staging, a manically involved audience of tens of thousands each gig, the chance to be center stage flexing his vocal chops and charming an audience. Performing in front of an audience is his food, his sustenance, the air he breathes. Better than sex. Not sure if he can get the same fix from being a judge on Idol. Just IMHO.

That interviewer is adorable!! So cute! I would say she is a Glambert! It's been a while since we've had an interview of any length. I love how he speaks so thoughtfully. Never just blows anything off. His voice is like melted butter and his beautiful face is like a Greek sculpture.
