"IF I WAS RUNNING IDOL -- I would pass on Ryan Seacrest and I would hire Adam as host -- pay him huge amounts of money and give him a monstrous, massive clothing allowance. He is charming, funny, quick-witted and would be great with the contestants. And it would be different to have a host who also performed. And I would have him perform every week. #Dreaming!" Keep dreaming, that will never happen! I want to dream right along with Q3...........and I would promise to watch Idol every week faithfully!

So on the scheduling front. Katy's tour takes her Sept through the 5th of February.
Adam has August, Sept, October free and so far free January and beyond
So Katy at the moment has a lot less time available than Adam
The Oscars will be on March 4th
Idol starts after the Oscars.
Cold they do cattle calls all summer, judge auditions in August, Hollywood in February, Live in March?

I hope Adam is available for Idol and is made an offer. Katy is a huge get but Adam is one of the biggest stars and names in Idol land. None of the Idols are as big as Katy but that does not take away from their own accomplishments and pull. If they get him and Carrie along with Katy, I think that would be a good team. Katy for the advertisers but Adam would get a ton of press and Carrie a ton in country land. This would give him some much needed US exposure. This with Queen and his own solo efforts would be tremendous, imo. The money, and expansion of his career would be great. None of this takes away from his creativity so nothing to lose if he is available and wants it.

just a little off topic but since their version of Bohemian Rhapsody has been posted here before, and I didn't see it mentioned...the guy from Pentatonix was at the Queer prom as well, he was also featured in one of the red-carpet video interviews...not sure if the blond taller guy that is with him is also the bandmember...
I gotta ask...Is Katy Perry THAT big in the US right now? Maybe I'm living in my Glambert-bubble too much but yes, she had a hit here with "I kissed a girl", "teenage dreams" and "california girls"...but of recently I don't rembember hearing much of her...
If Adam continues the QAL tour in the new year that would be some EXTENSIVE touring for them all. I gues right now, yes QAL is quite densly in Adams scedule but in 5 to 10 years time when the collaboration might have ended we'll miss them before we know it...

In response to the highlighted parts above... . I can't possibly think of a change in disposition or any other projects and commitments for Adam that would be big enough to turn down this gig, if it was offered to him. How about being on tour with Queen on another continent! Sometimes, people just are not available!! I still wonder if Idol originally went to DMG for Adam. Then found out he wasn't available but Katy was. IMO, getting Katy is huge! She HeWhoCannot ameds anyone ever on The Voice or XF! Sure. My gut feeling tells me though that scheduling conflicts aren't the issue here. If Adam ends up not getting the gig, I do hope though that I was wrong and that he was at least asked to fill the position. Agreed that Idol hit the jackpot by getting Katy on board.

Possible unpopular opinion, but I really, really hope Adam doesn't lose out on Idol because of QAL. I'm not one of those fans who breaks out in hives at the mention of QAL, but if more international dates pop up that would preclude him from accepting a judging slot on Idol, IMO that would not be a good trade - especially with all the time he's already devoting to the collaboration this year. Idol would give Adam broad U.S. visibility, which QAL won't do. Of course if the commitments are already in place, so be it, but it would be a shame. I do not want to take away from the significance and absolute thrill of the near perfect collaboration between Queen&Adam - can't wait to see them numerous times again soon - however, I agree that Idol is huge and (to quote Jablea ) that "It doesn't get bigger than this".

Yes, Katy will be the biggest star on the panel (maybe John Legend in consideration, too, unless that rumor is gone already.) But in the IDOL alum world. Adam is a HUGE success story. He is a showcase of what that show has done for a few of its alums. Having him on the panel makes perfect sense. He's one of the few AI alums who has a substantial international fanbase, too. His personal attributes are obvious: talent, personality, looks. But he is a symbol of Idol's own glory, too. I hope he gets a shot at it. If they want him enough, the schedules will work out. Still holding out hope.

About the highlighted part above...I can't provide any numbers or stats, and others here may feel differently, but I consider KP the "darling" of the pop music scene, somewhat equivalent to Carrie Underwood in Country Music. Someone mentioned a few days ago that young teens look to younger stars already and barely know about Katy. Not sure if that's a common trend, but I think she is still a very reputable "name" in pop music and that she satisfies the Idol demographic. Good timing for a little career boost though
