James, Adam's current sound guy was there for this concert and talk to some fans. You may recall that he is the 7th person to do the sound for Adam since GNT started. I believe he joined the tour in July. In any case, he spoke at length about how hard a job it is doing sound for Adam -- and gave many details about the care/intensity Adam has about getting the sound right. James previously did sound for Beyonce and said that Adam is paying him more than Beyonce paid him. People literally fly from thousands of miles away to experience a live Adam performance I want Adam to be a divo about the sound. But there is no question that Adam must be a PITA about his sound. Based on the info James relayed to these fans -- and I have spoken to James at other concerts and hear similar things -- and I personally head the story about Adam's demanding approach to the sound quality and mix. It is just one more reminder that Adam is in control of everything and knows exactly what he wants. There is not some tour manager or production managers doing all the work and planning, and the star just walks on when it is time for a brief sound check and then for the performance. Thanks for sharing this. I love reading about Adam the competent and involved boss Yes, thanks Q3, I enjoyed that too. If you can think of any of the "details" you mention, I'd love hear them--don't want to be intrusive but it sounds like James was comfortable sharing them with fans... Partly, it is Adam-nosiness, but partly it's just genuine more general curiousity about how one puts together and runs a major pop concert (one of the things I appreciate most about this site is how much I learn about the business of making and performing pop music)...

I don't really know what he's referring to, but this "swag" term is liberally used in SYTYCD episodes and interviews. So maybe he's been watching Sasha? That or maybe he heard it a lot when they were in Montreal Saturday night? A few people have mentioned that it is a regular term on SYTYCD -- really seems like a dated thing to say to me. Certainly not a term I every thought of using -- except to refer to a bunch of Holiday greenery. ETA: Regarding James' comments -- the specific details beyond what I posted were really not very enlightening except that Adam is passionate and adamant (and Adam word!!) and not all that civil when the sound is bad. Apparently a lot of colorful language is exchanged.

riley1877 Riley M @ @adamlambert I'm so excited to hear Still A Mystery! 5 minutes ago LOL Haha, I just love how us Adam Lambert fans, can just joke and toy with him when he makes these little tweets. Reminds me of the time when he was getting grief about his mustache, and he told everyone that had a problem with it can suck it, and his father responded asking if that would make the color run.

MWP:"I ;D readily admit to speaking from a position of ignorance, but THIS, I imagine, is a large part of the issue facing otherwise out and proud gays and lesbians in even liberal communities--the salaciousness of our society's response to sexual orientation makes a fact that should be commonplace and insignificant into a weirdly private revelation, and not one you feel comfortable introducing, say, at the workplace, even if you're totally comfortable in your sexuality and totally proud to be gay, and even if you feel, on the whole, that those around you are relatively "liberal" and "accepting."
I speak from ignorance as well.
But it is such a catch-22.
When my husband was 21, he volunteered with a health organization teaching people basic health care principles. He ended up for some time working with native Kuna Indians in the San Blas Islands. At that time, women frequently only wore skirts in keeping with their island customs. He recalls that as a 21 year old male, for two days, whenever he was talking to younger women, he was very conscious that they were not fully dressed, but by the end of only one week, he was surprised to note that he hardly noticed that fact anymore. A silly story, but what we see enough becomes commonplace.
The only way same sex affection will become less uncomfortable to some is to have expressions of it out there enough that it becomes more commonplace, but until then, it is unfair to expect people to have to experience persecution by trailblazing the way, because the persecution is real, and they will experience it from some quarters. And like MWP said so accurately, even people who are comfortably and confidently out have to deal with the fact that acting like any other loving couple gets to act in public may make other people feel uncomfortable in various social situations. Outlaws of love. Heartbreaking.
A real catch-22 that makes it clear that each person can only navigate her way through what feels best to her, after thinking through all the pros and cons. It is not right or fair that people have to deal with all these complexities because of who they love, and I am so sorry the world is not perfect. All I can do is increase my efforts to be supportive, to speak up and to let my out friends know how much I love and support and admire them. And that includes those of you sharing your touching stories today. As a person who does not have to deal with this extra load, simply by being born straight, I feel more responsibility to speak up and to lead and teach humanity where and when I can. It is safer for me.
That is why I am now posting advocacy issues on my personal facebook and why I will post Adam's beautiful song there as well.
We say it is different for Adam to be open the way he is in his world, and to some extent that is true, but not different enough. He still receives and feels the hate of so many who are uncomfortable or threatened by his sexuality every day. With his phenomenal talent and charisma, if he had chosen to be less open, he might have had an easier time in his business, his career. In the end, I hope for his career to be more exceptional in long term, real ways because he didn't.
That is the advantage he has in being an artist with a public voice. A beautiful, powerful public voice. But it is not easy, and that is why I love him with an added layer of love and gratitude for being so real. He has definitely chosen a more difficult road to travel in deciding to be so wide open that will, in turn, open up minds as he goes along, baby steps, baby steps...
Thanks to Adam and all of you who continually open my mind to help me learn. <3

I don't think that there were anywhere near 9,000 at the concert. I would guess maybe 4,500. They may have sold more but I don't think that many were there. Most people I talked to thought 4-5k I spoke to the Festival Director -- they sold over 9,000 tickets through Thursday and it was full to the back including the stands. It was a very wide venue and V shaped audience. If it was an average of 80 people in a row (I think that is conservative) that is only about 120 rows back. I have no idea how many people were there but certainly more than Las Vegas which was 6K. How much the number matters in the end? It's entirely possible that an amount of local people bought tickets for a general concert experience and the fireworks, but then didn't attend because of the rain. The festival people got their money, and it's extremely important that Adam stays known, in the promoter business circles, as a person who draws crowds and sells tickets. To them it doesn't matter what percentage of the ticket holders showed up. Also, the crowd was so large that it didn't dampen down the show, and I haven't heard even once that people would have left early because of the rain or because they would have wanted to avoid traffic, which shows that the audience really was committed and wanted to be there no matter what.
