Do we have any hope of Adam getting on this show (when he releases new music) and would it be beneficial? He has always been a visual artist who does not get much visual exposure on tv. Seems they will sometimes show videos as well as performances and interviews.
For its new iteration, MTV has tapped musician and comedian DC Young Fly to host, leading a “squad” of influencers like Complex alum Tamara Dhia, social media star Amy Pham, and Vine breakouts The Dolan Twins, among others. The guest list for the first week is stacked: The network first announced Ed Sheeran and Migos as premiere day performers, adding on names including Noah Cyrus, Travis Scott, Demi Lovato and Lil Uzi Vert for later in the week. It was announced Friday that DJ Khaled will attend Monday’s showing as “The Godfather” of the program.
He is living the life. I think he likely handles his money well so it's great that he can take these mini vacations to exotic places and we all get glimpses of them. I would love to hear some new music but he has his own timeline I am sure. The fact is, that he is able to travel and enjoy life so really he has the best of both worlds. He might not be as big as Katy Perry, Sam Smith etc but he isn't hurting either. His Queen gigs have allowed him some financial freedom to make the music he wants when he wants. I predict we will see him in some acting gig also in this next year or so.
IN the meantime, I wonder what a room costs in that hotel. It is fabulous. Going to go look that up now.
It is not insanely expensive -- but not something I'm doing next week!!!

Haha. Hmmm, I wonder what that is in Canadian dollars, yup, no. Well that is a little rich for my blood but you're right it's not out of this world. Just perfect for a young rock star and his Finnish friend.

MTV's target demographic of P18-34 is great but their ratings are so low that it really isn't essential anymore -- and the link between programming and music is becoming very loose.
My take: Adam on this program would not move the needle. Also, I am not sure Adam's target audience is MTV's 18-34, urban-centric audience.
>> I think Adam's market is teens + LGBT + women 18-49. These are the demos that line up to contemporary pop music. MTV is turning around their ratings by bringing in Ludacris and similar artists, and YouTube stars with large non-TV video fanbases.
The highest rated MTV program Thursday (I just picked the latest P+2 ratings).

Translation - only people were watching MTV's #1 show of the day.
"P 18-49 Rating" percentage of people aged 18 to 49 who live in households with television who are watching a particular TV program times 100 (in points). A rating of 0.33 means that Nielsen has estimated that 0.33% of the P 18-49 possible TV audience or 418,473 persons are watching this program this program, and that 99.67% of the audience may be watching another program or not watching TV. This the "demo" and what most TV ad rates are based on.
P2+ is Persons aged 2 or more estimated to be watching the program. P2+ (000's) 568 means that this program averaged 568,000 viewers. For 2017-2018 season, the number of persons age 2 and older in U.S. TV Households is estimated to be 304.5 million, which represents a 0.9% increase from last year.
Here is a chart that illustrates how bad it is:
Average primetime (peak time) total viewership (live plus seven days of DVR viewing) over the past two years (Nielsen).Dylan Roach/Business Insider
"No network needs more help than Viacom’s MTV, the once-great cable channel that has surrendered its grip on young viewers to YouTube and Snapchat. New MTV boss Chris McCarthy has scrapped his predecessors’ scripted programs to focus more on reality series and live shows filmed in Viacom’s Times Square offices. The channel will air eight new series in the coming weeks."
Setting all of that aside, MTV is changing programming and there are some positive signs -- MTV has had three consecutive quarters of quarter-to-quarter growth in share (F2Q-F4Q) for the first time in 15 years in P18-34 L+SD (Live + SD on demand).
And their effort to focus on reality and live programming with an urban focus is paying off....
"Tuesday night’s season premiere of MTV’s Fear Factor revival hosted by Ludacris was the network’s highest-rated series premiere in two years among adults 18-34, delivering a 0.83 rating in the key demo, up 164% vs. its time period average. Airing at 10 PM, the reboot drew 936,000 total viewers in Live+Same Day." Link: deadline.com/2017/05/mtv-fear-factor-revival-premiere-viewership-record-key-demo-ratings-1202105491/
>> Sorry for the long post. But how to market musicians and their music in 2017 is something I have thought a lot about.
