I'm dying to hear dance-y "Aftermath." I love that I cannot begin to fathom how that can be!

Just a quick pop in w/ my two cents about the fanfic discussion from yesterday/today. I was actually introduced to Adam through fanfic (not an AI watcher), as were some other fans. I think the phenomena of fanfic, it's history, the ethical dilemmas and debates, legal issues, cultural impact etc. are really too big a subject to properly do justice to in passing on a daily thread. There have been scholarly and journalistic articles written about it, as well as long debates within the community (as many notable fanfic writers/readers are are in college or graduate school it leads to a lot of cultural analysis). I also personally am a bit uncomfortable with discussing it here because of fourth wall issues (the vast majority of fanfic writers and readers are horrified when anyone talks to or links TV actors about fanfic written about them. Professional authors asked about fanfic written about their characters, have a wide variety of responses from encouragement to dismay).
Also, the fact that some members are clearly uncomfortable with the discussion makes me inclined to think it would be maybe suited for a members only separate thread, esp. when it comes to making recs.
I'd just like to say that there are lots of fannish spaces (twitter, livejournal communities, etc. where shipping (and fanfic discussion) is omnipresent, and shipping can lead to a lot of infighting among community members. I've always liked that this forum is pretty much free of all that.
And since that was sorta srz bizness, I'd just like to say Adam is very lovely, and thank everyone for posting the gifs and pics today and yesterday!
ETA: oops, I was writing this while Q3 was posting so I missed that. yeah, I guess that goes into the suggestion thread... not here...

Q3....what do you think is going on with Aftermath, just waiting for the right time to release? Let the DVD come out first? I have no idea except that the focus at Sony/RCA is on the CD/DVD release and not on Aftermath. So my bet is that Adam uses the Aftermath release to both support Trevor Project and to remind people that the CD/DVD is being released. There is a rumor in Germany that there may be a live single of Sleepwalker released to radio with the DVD release. Anyone hear this or see anything about it? Could be just a fan dreaming! But IMO live SW >>>>> album SW. And the fact that SW was not on Acoustic Live makes me think that they held it back for the DVD.

I'd like to make a clarification about the fan fic discussion. I don't think anyone was trying to push anyone else into reading or approving of fan fic. I know all I was trying to do is clear up a lot of the misrepresentations of terminology and confusion about the genre. Whether someone wants to read fan fic in general or slash or real people fic is a very personal decision but some of what was being posted here indicated a total misunderstanding of both the terms and the medium. Many posters were making judgements based on totally erroneous information and a misunderstanding of the true meanings of the terms. Just because there exist BSC fans who take shipping seriously does not mean that the term itself implies belief in the reality. Just as we don't want our fandom as a whole defined by the BSC fans, fan fic writers and readers do not want their community defined by crazy tinhatters and conspiracy theorists. Also the fan fic sites are for the most part very precise about having stories contain proper warnings and summaries so that you can choose not to read fics that are not in your comfort zone. The problems crop up when people who are ignorant of the rules of fan fic posting do not follow the conventions. One poster mentioned a specific fic in order to make a point and I asked for a link to it which I admit I should have just asked via pm, but the majority of the discussion has been an attempt to educate about what shipping is and what fan fic is so that those of you who have not been exposed to it get the correct definitions for the terminology. Yes and I appreciate your knowledge and your willingness to share your info. I do think no one, with one exception, went into any kind of detail on actual fic content. The discussion was interesting and I thank you

Oh, man, I really want to go! However, April 4 is my wedding anniversary so I don't know if I can get away with going out of town on an Adam worshiping adventure. I'm going to pray that something big comes up at my hubby's work and he'll have to work that weekend!! (Is that bad??) HaHa...using the word "pray" might make it bad. lol....I haven't told my hubby yet....it's only been 3 weeks since my last "Adam Worshiping Adventure"....I may wait a few weeks before springing it on him. Start packing. I'll pick you up that Friday morning at 9:00.

Let's talk about food. What do you think Adam and Sauli ate in Bora Bora?

All I am saying is that I really, really do not want to have that stuff [fanfic] brought here. I am actually surprised that something like this is taken as a legitimate "adam" topic. Sticking my head in briefly to put in my 0.02 about fanfic I've dipped my toes into various fanfic fandoms over the years. Everything from Star Trek to Pride and Prejudice to Lord of the Rings (although the first time I checked out a LOTR link someone sent me my husband looked over my shoulder and guffawed: "Elf Porn!! You're reading Elf Porn!!" Some is sexy. Some is not. Some is FANTASTIC writing. Some is shlock. Some is indeed about relationships (including some that is utterly squicky in nature). Some merely expand the orginal plot to places and character experiences that the original author never thought...and occasionally the results have been beautifully stunning. Whole series of actual in-print books (Star Trek, Dr. Who) in stores are essentially fanfic. What I'm trying to say is that the term 'FanFic" encompasses a HUGE genre of types and experiences. That a percentage of it may make a person unfamiliar to the term uncomfortable is understandable, but don't "throw the baby out with the bathwater". A lot of it is tremendously good. Fanfic is about STORIES. Yep, some contain sex (for some reason people *do* like writing about that. ), but that's not the sole reason it exists. A lot of time, its just people who love to write and get feedback on their writing. Personally, I have no problem with mentioning Adam fanfic here. It most definitively exists. HOWEVER, I would recommend that peeps consider that certain fanfic stories that are sexual in nature will categorically *not* be pleasurable reading to all, and therefore specific recommendations (links only, please) should be either be PMed or at least headed with a SCROLL IF NOT INTERESTED alert. ETA: [laugh] I think in the time it took me to write this, the topic has completely changed. Never mind then. CARRY ON!

Q3, This article was posted A few days ago. How does this apply to Adam? Does Adam make more money if I buy the DVD from AO rather than Amazon? We all watch the Amazon and Itunes rankings. Does buying things from AO make it less likely others beyond the fanbase hear about him? www.informationisbeautiful.net/2010/how-much-do-music-artists-earn-online/comment-page-3/#commentsI would love to see Adam have A livestream of his next concert tour available to fans at A nominal fee. We all spent two summers following Adam this way. It was bonding and helped cement the fanbase IMO. What would the downside of this be for Adam/RCA? The fee could benefit charity.
