I was digging around to see if there was any info on Adam's "missing" idol performance -- the head to head and came across this very interesting comment from 2009...... "Hmmmmm, I’m beginning to wonder if the reason Nate and Norman/Nick got through was to make Adam seem more tame and perhaps middle of the road…just a thought.  " I really think that there is some merit to that comment. Norman/Nick was so OTT gay that Adam looked like he was Iowa gay. Just a thought since we know that Adam was a producers pick from the start of Idol. [And why wouldn't he be a producer's pick!!] I really, really can't find any similarities between Norman & Adam How you explain the Bikini girl? Nobody is saying they are similar what we are saying is Norman/Nick was a much more out there flaming type gay guy making Adam's gay seem more normal and acceptable. Those noticing "the gay" would have focused first on the most outlandish and to me the ones who registered gay with no question at all were Nick/Norman, Nathaniel, and Von Smith. Adam to me at first just looked like an Anime character come to life (daughter's influence) or a glam rock type and I didn't even think about his sexuality but was not surprised or bothered when people were saying he was gay or when I found out about the pictures. For me personally the first thing that came to my mind when I saw Nick/Norman, Nathaniel, and Von Smith was GAY so in that respect it is quite possible that the producers had a strategy to advance several really out there characters in order for their favorite Adam to look more normal in comparison. |

James auditioned for Idol in 2008 -- he did not get selected. He was not part of Hollywood Week. Hollywood Week is broadcast and we saw everyone. --- James Durbin told the San Jose Mercury News he auditioned for AI8 but he never said he went to Hollywood week. IF Idol had video of Durbin vs. Lambert from 2009, we would have seen that at some point. Would have been great for ratings. Also, if Adam had met James in 2009, I think one of them would have said it -- probably James. With respect, I disagree. We didn't see all the 147 contestants, in other than in a possible group shot (where they wandered around the stage in wonder). BEfore the live rounds, we saw maybe 50 people altogether. People can, and are, edited completely out in Hollywood week. Remember Lacey Brown from season 9? She advanced in S8 till the final "rooms of doom" round, but for her whole "journey", we se a half a second of her, in the background of the persons being shot. James could have advanced till the second day, even through group rounds, and been completely edited out. I'm not saying that he was, only that it's possible. I also don't think that it's a valid argument to say that if there would have been a "rocker vs. rocker" situation, it would have been televised and because it wasn't shown, it mustn't have happened. It could have, and still not be televised, as it probably wouldn't have sat well in their plot of "Christian values versus new, edgy & scary". I do agree with you that if Adam and James would have met/seen each other during Hollywood (even sitting in the audience, watching as the other contestants perform), they would have probably said something. Or rather, James would have said something. Adam has no reasons for reminiscing who else were there with him before the top 13. James has a compeling back story which they have used it in AI10. If he advanced to Hollywood Week on AI8, why wouldn't TPTB use his back story to do a comparison really good looking Glam Rocker vs Metal/rocker with dissability? I think he was not passed to Hollywood Week. But when he came back for AI10, the producers were really wanted to have another Adam Lambert moment, because that's what they've been advertising for for AI9 and AI10... they're looking for the next STAR... lik Adam Lambert. |

Hi boys and girls!!! I'm back at home!  I missed you all so much!  Lulu2365 I will never forget my vacation countdown thank you so so much!!  And you , reihmer and buders did an excellent job with the pic spams! LOL I'm so dizzy that I don't think I will be able to follow properly the awards tonight, but I'm counting on everyone's pic spams to follow these awards, I hope tomorrow I'll be better and start right/click saving. ;D And there are many things I'm trying to catch up but I think in 2 days I'll be back in full force, I have 2 more weeks of vacation. ;D OK carry on now I'm trying to understand what you're saying about his new management  ETA I forgot to thank you all for the wonderful words I read all these days about missing me, I missed you too. |

ITA with emmuzka's point that what was aired was only a small percentage of what actually happened. (Adam performed "Rock With You" first at the auditions, after all.) We have no idea how many levels he went through before getting in front of Simon and co. My guess is at least two, possibly three. And according to this train wreck of bio for James on the Red Light page (grammatical, style, agreement, syntax and typographical errors GALORE!! It seriously reads like a Google translation from a foreign language ... REALLY embarrassing, Red Light), it says James auditioned, but "didn't advance." www.redlightmanagement.com/artist.php?sect=artist&num=227I also vaguely remember the article when they went back to San Francisco in season 9 or 10 and the producers were already abuzz about Adam and they knew he was one to watch. |
