Not sure if this should go here or on the Radio Reference thread, but its quite an interesting article about music publishing.
Adam isn't talked about specifically in this piece, but it does show a rather intricate picture of the songwriting side of the music biz, both in terms of the "creative" process and the business realities.www.thembj.org/2011/08/jim-vellutato-vp-sonyatv-music-publishing/ This interview is really interesting. Isn't that what Adam has been doing? He's been writing with different people a week at a time. I personally always liked that FYE was "eclectic" I get bored if every song sounds alike on an album. FYE had a different song for every mood. With Adam writing all the songs they should have that common thread but since He's writing with different people We should get variety.  What confuses me about this quote however, is that he seems to be saying the writing camps have more likelihood of producing hit songs if they just get the best writers together and leave the artist completely out of it. So a group would get together to create Rhianna songs, and then they would get handed to her and she would sing them. It seems like this probably wouldn't be Adam's first choice at this time, though I'm curious to see if there are some songs he doesn't have a co-write credit on in the new album. |
