Mayumi...sorry about your friend...so glad you all had your "Celebration of Life"...what a wonderful concept and blessing to all involved..... And on a lighter note, I would like to reserve a room for me and B'day girl for Sat. April 2, with the possibility of adding Fri. April l. lol Can't wait...It'll be a HOOT !!! (I'll try and get B'day girl, Twitter ninja extraordinaire, to send Twit pics/vids of our party...or maybe a ustream ( OK, I guess I may have gotten carried away with that idea......don't want to scare anyone away. HA) Lynneville....What you doing on April 2nd? Oh, man, I really want to go! However, April 4 is my wedding anniversary so I don't know if I can get away with going out of town on an Adam worshiping adventure. I'm going to pray that something big comes up at my hubby's work and he'll have to work that weekend!! (Is that bad??) HaHa...using the word "pray" might make it bad. lol....I haven't told my hubby yet....it's only been 3 weeks since my last "Adam Worshiping Adventure"....I may wait a few weeks before springing it on him.

More about YouTube view count gaming. We know it happens and here is the most famous example -- Avril Lavigne: www.wired.com/listening_post/2008/07/avril-lavigne-a/Avril, even with gaming with viewer bots, took 2 years to hit 100 million views. Susan Boyle took about a week to do it. I have always been skeptical of the overnight YouTube sensation SuBo. It appears to have been manufactured to me. And then people jumped on board. Are SuBo's 60+ year old fans really the kind of people who were hanging out online seeking the latest YouTube video? Makes no sense to me. The biggest question of the entire SuBo "phenomenon" is why was this video not monetized with ads? Why did Simon and Sony leave so much money on the table? My bet is because a lot of those views were not real views and they did not want any advertiser to discover it. (And like with Avril, they would have.) From Wired ---- Sorry to be a skeptic -- but I do not believe that they could not agree how to share revenue so just walked away from all of it. This is Simon Cowell -- no Mother Teresa!. Link to article: www.wired.com/epicenter/2009/04/susan-boyle-nev/In any case, the moral to this story is -- YouTube view count does now mean that there were actually that many viewers or maybe even views.

Needacoke-- HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!! Hope it's fabulous, and is the start of a fantastic, fun, glittery year for you! Mayumi, so sorry about the loss of your friend. I love the idea of a celebration of life, and what a beautiful thing that your friend was part of that celebration! And as always, thanks to everyone for reading my essay thingie. I have such fun writing them! But it sounds like I need to post disclaimers. "Warning: author is not responsible for missed church services or prematurely awakened houseguests."

Q3, just had a quick question for you. I'm sorry if this has been asked before but I've been thinking about this since the news that Archuleta's been dropped broke.
It's been reported that Archuleta had a 3 album deal and that now he's fulfilled it, he wasn't so much dropped as that the contract wasn't re-upped. From what I read, the assumption has been that Adam has a 5 album deal. Do you have any thoughts on this? I in no way believe that Archuleta and Adam are similar, other than both having been runner ups, but it does make me worry a little that labels have such short memories. I'm surprised that Jordin's getting a 3rd album, though I know she has an international presence.
And Q3? Thank you SO MUCH for finding another home for us!!! What an incredible amount of work when you're so busy starting another job. I don't know how you do it! I don't post much but believe me, I'm always thankful for you and your insightful comments, and all the other wonderful posters here! Love you all!

Wow, that is interesting!! 100 million views in nine days, coupled with the active nature of the viewer (since they have to actually seek it out), as opposed to the passive viewer of most ads, seems like it would make it the reach equivalent of a Super Bowl commercial. And yet they did nothing to monetize? Hmmm.
