Earthquake bad in DC. Our building was shaking big time. Everyone evacuted. Came back to office long enough to grab my car keys and log out of ATOP. Cell phone system down, can't reach my kid's day care. Heading out before even the back roads go solid with traffic. Catch you guys later. Hoppers take care!!!! double that!! sending energy that your beloveds are safe.

I know nothing about earthquakes.
Pinnacles fell off the National Cathedral.
CNN says no one hurt in earthquake.

Don't mean to change subject, but if I don't ask this question, I will forget. Has anyone heard about a calendar for this year. That is one of my best purchases, and I live with Adam's 2011 calendar everday and love it. Watching the Cherry video brought this to mind. Now back to the earthquake and that damned hurricane. I live in Florida and pray every hurricane season that I never have to go through another one.
Everybody be safe please.

gotta admit, that freaked me out a little. I thought for a second it was a subway train, but I'm on the tenth floor of a big old building so no way that would cause that. Whole building swayed and I really felt a little seasick--then I thought I'd imagined it but the upset dog and swaying light fixtures told me I hadn't. Hope there are no aftershocks. I lived in Cali for a year and it's different there--you kinda expect it. But it took me by surprise here in NYC, I gotta say. I immediately turned on the local news and all the news casters were freaking out too, lol. BTW, upgraded to 5.9 now. .. this is the second time in my 30 years in Manhattan... I thought there was an explosion in the garage under the building...but overall was not that strong thank god, nothing fell or shifted... interesting that my colleagues just across the Hudson in NJ did not feel anything - strange, given under 10 miles distance...

Stupid, I know, but I'm an earthquake novice. I need to take the dog out for a walk. Do you guys think the elevator is fine or do I need to force her to walk down and then up ten floors? Building seems fine, it swayed but no major shaking....Advice? midwifespal my advice would be do not use the elevator.

I'm still in Pgh and my granddaughter just texted me from work. She's a lifeguard and said her chair tipped and the pool sloshed a bit. Pgh is only 4 1/2 hours from DC, so not surprising. I didn't feel it in the house and the dog didn't bark, but I've had 4 texts from ppl who did. Weird.
And, am happy I'm not in MB right now but fearful for lots of friends who are. It's usually Wilmington, NC that takes the hit from hurricanes because of the way it juts out into the Atlantic, but we did get quite a bit of damage from "storm of the century" winds in 1993 as well as from Hurr Bertha and Fran. None catastrophic, but the area around Charleston, all the barrier islands off Beaufort are so vulnerable. Happy for FL and all my friends down there, but hate it for NC & SC.

My only desire for Adam is that he have whatever it is he needs in his life to live his dreams and be happy. Pretty much the same desire I have for anybody I care about.I'm thrilled he has a boyfriend. It made me sad when his BF was Drake and there were so many fans who dissed over the poor guy. That could not have been easy for either Adam or Drake. And maybe it is hard for some fans for Adam to be so obviously gay. I don't coast other boards to find out. I just hang out here where the water's warm and the people are nice. I also strongly feel that those fans need to get over it or move on. Quickly. Dude is gay. Talks gay, walks gay, has gay sex. He's gay. He's not going to change just because some obsessed female fans profess their love for him. And I do remember after the RS article was published and I was still checking out AO regularly being really surprised at the many unreasonable reactions from the straight women who love Adam. I mean, didn't they already know? Hadn't they seen the pics? Wasn't it so damn obvious before those pics were even leaked? I guess for some, whose overall exposure to "the lifestyle" was limited before Adam showed up, they were unable to detect that Adam Lambert is indeed quite gay. For me, I figured it out pretty fast and it just made me love him even more. May Adam and Sauli find the best happiness together. Wut, if Adam were straight, you don't think he would fall for someone almost 20 years his senior with flat shoes (because of arthritis)? Thank god, he's gay I could not handle the rejection... ;D I agree with everything you said and I'm happy for Adam as he seems to have found himself someone special. They are a joy to watch together, but each can stand on their own two feet as individuals and provide comfort and support to one another when needed. This is what I read from the pictures... LOL. I hope things will work out for them in the long run as I'd like to keep seeing Adam creative and in love. There will be obstacles and only time will tell, if they can overcome them together. I'm sending positive thoughts into the universe.... I also have mad respect for both Brad and Drake, for being there for Adam, for being loyal and staying friends after the relationship had run its course. So classy. Many times we've heard Adam say how he appreciates the androgynous look; in the rock starts he idolizes, in his own aestethics and in the men he is attracted to. It can be easy to forget that the look is a manifestation of the person & personality behind the exterior. Adam sees something in this look that reveals him more of the person inside and what that person's outlook on life is, and he relates to it. Yes, Adam is very gay (endearing term), LOL. It's a part of who he is as a person, "his gayness" has partly molded him into the person he is today and I love what I see and hear. I would not want him any other way.

I'm in NJ about 3 miles from NYC and I felt the earthquake big time. I was watching Lee Cherry's BTS video and was very reluctant to leave. At first I thought someone was jumping on the roof above me, then my chair actually rolled me away from my desk, and then I thought the roof was going to collapse. I said Goodbye Adam, I'm getting outta here!!!! We were cleared to come back into the building and I quickly resumed watching the video. However, leaving the building and not knowing what was going on really brought back a horrible feeling in the pit of my stomach, and flashbacks of that horrible day ten years ago and thinking to myself, no, no, not again. I'm about 30 miles SW of NYC and didn't feel a thing....weird, cuz hubby called as his building was swaying like crazy (he works in Newark). I would have thought I'd be closer to the epicenter than him, but I guess it doesn't work like that... Hope there's not too much damage in Virginia. :(
