I have been praying so long for Adam to get a break-out acting role that will open up new opportunities for him, just like what happened for Jennifer. She got that role in Dream Girls and it changed her career completely. She is doing more acting; she is getting those "judge" type jobs, etc. She has found her way into more of an inner circle of celebrity. That role allowed her to not have to rely solely on recording music and promoting albums and singles and trying to do tours. Recording her own music can be a side-issue for her. Putting out new music of his own and touring may always be the main focus for Adam, BUT I want that same opportunity for Adam that Jennifer got. The Judas role could give him a really good push. It's on network TV in front of a large, broad audience. It could lead to other roles, just like JH's Dream Girls role led to other roles for her. Hey, I'm not even a big fan of her. But I admire how she has stayed focused and worked hard. BUT, she did get that one lucky break that moved her career to higher heights. But Judas most likely won't show much in the way of acting skills configured as a rock show. I don't expect much to come of it follow up wise for acting and I do expect quite a bit of flack for casting a gay guy. It will be cool but it will be a wash as far as expanding to acting. But I do hope for interviews in March which would be cool. Jablea , valid point. Our fandom may have varied opinions but likely we all have the same hopes and dreams for Adam. This one thought crossed my mind just now... may be they are holding off with the announcement of a real life gay Judas, in order to avoid some flack that could drag out way too long.

I don't know where to post this, but I wanted to say hello and that I am a fan of Adam's from his Idol days. I got busy with life and fell out of touch with how he was doing from around 2010, but I recently have recalled how much I love him and have been trying to catch up on his life. There's so much!! It's been so wonderful to read about him becoming Queen's front man (such a pie-in-the-sky fantasy of mine back during Idol days!), to discover his second and third albums and all of the other things he's done, and just to see that he is still the super nice human being that I fell in love with during Idol. As a member of the LGBTQ community, it's really inspiring for me to see how open he has been from the get-go, living his life with integrity despite it costing him radio play and other opportunities in some areas, and how he puts himself out there with his visibility and how he talks so patiently and so articulately to the media about various issues we deal with. He's the reason I was able to have my own conversation with my father about being bi. Back when I last was following his news, it was frustrating since he was still dealing with such flack over the AMAs and having people on all sides trying to police his behavior and image. The long view of history can be a gratifying one. Also, on a shallow note, it's fairly rewarding to see that people of all orientations and genders now recognize him as a gorgeous man, which he always was on Idol but got half the recognition for it that he deserved. Reading about how well regarded he is in the industry is probably my favorite thing of all, given how much buzz he had back during Idol and how I was hoping that they wouldn't forget him after he lost. They sure haven't! How amazing to see the love from Brian and Roger, especially! I still can't quite grasp the fact that 1) he's actually Queen's frontman and 2) he's winning over grudging, grumpy, hardcore Queen fans city after city after city... You go, Adam! I hope I can see him on tour again--it's been so long since I saw him (2009/2010). Anyway, this is becoming a ramble, so I'll shut up. But I wanted to say hello to fellow Adam fans and to also say thank you for having this archive of news that you have here. I hope it's okay for a new/old fan of Adam's to join in discussions from time to time. Hey sarah! I am excited to have you here with us. I have a feeling that you will be able to contribute tremendously on various discussions. Thanks for sharing your "fan history" and quite a bit about yourself.

www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/justin-tranter-pop-music-songwriter_us_5a5e670ae4b096ecfca85501?utm_hp_ref=lgbtq-sexuality good article ,mentions sam smith .. no mention of Adam.. pissed off a bit.. maybe he can write for more LGBTQ artists. He worked on one song with Adam, never heard it.It appears that his focus is on women singers.. I agree with him on LGBTQ prejudice being about gender.. I remember he said to paraphrase ,that someone in the music business told him ,to paraphrase ,Justin can't seem gayer than Adam Lambert..Tranter ,went behind the scenes because it was so difficult to be get ahead as a member of his band.. Thanks so much for this article... quite an eye opening discussion for me to get some insight as to where the queer community stands when it comes to challenges in the music and movie industry, as well as in the current political climate. I appreciate the affirmation and view that Pop music as a genre can be deep and meaningful and should not be dismissed as shallow just because it is "popular music"... I thought of Adam when JT talked about going from Pop to Rock and then back to Pop, which confirms my opinion that a good song is probably universally appealing. Interesting how JT called SS a "champion" and for me pretty much proved the point the interviewer was trying to make (see excerpt at the bottom) " How is it for queer people in the music industry right now?I mean… there’s like three of us? If that answers your question... [laughs] Right, but is that changing? Are you seeing progress being made in terms of who is finding success on the charts or at least being taken seriously by labels? I am seeing major labels signing a lot more openly LGBTQ people and I think that’s a huge, huge step in the right direction. But we still have to see if the labels are going to do all of the necessary work to [give a real chance to] these artists and we still have to see if the mainstream world is ready for these artists. In terms of the media, it’s getting better all the time but there still aren’t that many fully formed, three-dimensional LGBTQ people visible in media — or at least there aren’t as many as there should be. It’s obviously better than it was when I was in high school and it’s amazing to turn on the TV or go to the movies or see someone like Sam Smith, who is a fucking champion just for being as massive as he is while being openly queer. But the music industry has a lot of work to do. If a queer person manages to break through and find success in the entertainment industry, they’re often presented as ― or forced to present themselves as ― non-sexual. ....." I too was a bit surprised how there's not mention of Adam, which almost proves the point he made about the challenges of the queer community in the entertainment industry. It looks like the challenges come from within the community as well. My opinion. Yes, I remember that earlier interview where he mentioned that he was advised to not look gayer than Adam Lambert. Interesting. He quite clearly says that the labels, as of now, do NOT give enough support and don't push their LGBT artists enough.

Thank you! Oh, are you in WI, too?? (I noticed beneath your avi.) We're almost neighbors! I just moved to Milwaukee last August. YEP! I'm in Madison! ETA: Well, that's ridiculous. You can plainly see I'm in Madison! lol Welcome, Sarah! I never tire of hearing how Adam has impacted peoples' lives. And Milwaukee is my hometown and Madison is where my daughter was born. Somehow, everyone seems to be connected through Adam and in a multitude of other ways.

This one thought crossed my mind just now... may be they are holding off with the announcement of a real life gay Judas, in order to avoid some flack that could drag out way too long. ...but...but wouldn't that be contra productive of the "message"...either they cast the guy because of the talent and what he brings to the role and the network owns their decision and stands by the signal that it's freaking 2018 or they should choose someone "saver" really. I've made my point about Adams success so I try to keep out of the discussion as I would only repeat myself but: I'm a little irritated that Adam is eventually "missing out" on so many opportunities...he's CONSTANTLY busy...let the guy breathe! Yes, I would like wider recognition for Adam too because I think he's effing talented (who am I saying this to^^) and I think he has great music, that I wish was more widely heard. Yes, I hope that if Adam wants to that he can fill arenas and I think post-QAl if he pushes his name and solo-work enough and makes the right move he will be able to no problem (JMHO, I might be wrong). For now I'm happy he can choose projects he truly wants to do and enjoys, he is surrounded by people who he grew up with or has spend many years together and he can still wonder around a city without a mop of people. re the grammys: not gonna watch them...they don't air over here, but I'm looking forward to Miley Cyrus' performance with Elton John. Say what you want but the girl can sing, I like the energy and vibe she can give and bring to a performance...she is also quite versatile which is something I really like... ETA: a big warm HELLAU and ALLAF (my parents are watching a carneval atm, so sorry about that)...I came here late too and there was ALOT to catch up to...took me two years till I felt I had it all and I'm still learning...

Just my opinion. But if they think there will be flack for casting a gay artist they probably won't cast one. If Adam gets the part, I doubt they will make it all about his sexuality. I could be wrong but I hope not. His fans might tho. When he sang "Girl Crush" on a country award show, there was hardly a peep about his sexuality except from fans. Most were raving (including the country audience) about how great he was.
