Just read the news about New Zealand. I hope you and yours are all well. Living in Japan, I've had some personal experience with earthquakes and they are scary. There's no warning, so they come upon you all of a sudden. We had a small one yesterday and even that made me nervous. All the best to our NZ members! Hi Four56 and kiwifever!!! Welcome and glad you delurked. Kiwifever, sending light and love to your country.

From last night:
Eek, I hope everyone knows that Monte is not being castrated! In a vasectomy, the vas deferens, the tube through which sperm flows from the testicles to the urethra, is clipped and sealed off. Balls remain intact and untouched! There are a lot of men who deserve to be neutered, but I don't think Monte is one of them.

Monterrific "Crazy for You" performed by Monte Pittman and Allison Iraheta at Molly ... t.co/2mEIv8D so nice to see Allison..she looks and sounds great Thanks for posting that. She really is great. It's been said before, but I love that these musicians have bonded enough to make more music after tour. Monte still has the nail polish. 8-)

I just want to add my prayers to those expressed for the beautiful people and country of New Zealand. It always hurts more when you feel a connection to a country and it's population, and thanks to Adam and the tour there are so many places and people we know a little better. The world is just a little smaller and more familiar since fall of 2010.

the comments thread in this queerty article has gotten really interesting, a lot of tensions coming out into the open and people talking to each other about them surprisingly. It feeds into the discussions we've had about commenting on blogs, etc.: www.queerty.com/is-adam-lambert-finally-ready-to-represent-the-gays-20110221/BTW: it's worth reading the whole thread there, and I wish this would go without saying, but please don't post there without thinking very very carefully about it... Thanks for that link. Very, very fascinating conversation. I do think some people need to think before they post, but overall, I'm really happy to see the dialogue and the diversity of opinions (straight and gay) represented. I particularly appreciate the point that these issues have been around before Adam, and that they are far bigger than Adam. And that as excellent as it is for people to become interested/aware because of Adam, it is also important to become educated beyond just Adam. The more you know, the more you realize how complex it all is.

I have a theory that there are straight fans who love Adam in part because they love someone who is gay (a child, sibling, friend, whatever) and that part of what they see in Adam is the possibility for that person they love to be happy, proud, successful, sexual, strong, in love, and loved - everything everyone wants for those they love. I would love to post some thoughts on that thread we'eve been reading, but don't want to contribute to "dominating gay space." I wonder why it doesn't occur to some, though, that the women posting there might have a stake, whether they are gay or not. IMO adults don't need "role models." Adults concerned about their world/interests need political leaders and activists - some entertainers are into trying to be that, some aren't, some are sometimes. I don't see that as their job. But tweens and teens do need role models. Whether it's Chris Colfer, Jake Spears, or Adam Lambert (different stars appeal to different kids, right, just like adults?), the more young gay men (and women) who are out there and happy, and achieving, and seen as relatively "cool" by some, etc. is good IMO. As much as I love Gaga, et al (and I do), a suicidal young kid being called names or worse can't look at her and say, "Well, as a young gay man, she's certainly managing to celebrate and enjoy her life."

Funny nobody is speaking about the sleeve tattoo anymore .... A lot of us are too traumatized by the thought of those arm freckles being covered up to speak about it anymore. >:(
