How is everyone ? And … after saying all those words, let me just quote my newly minted 13 year old…Who has loved Adam since she was 11.....
“I really , really, really , love Adam because he is not yucky , and sleazy… he is gay? That is great that means he will smell good all the time…” Ahhh the unquestionable wisdom of kids….
Loved your whole post, animated, but this part was my favorite!
Awww... this reminded me of a quote I saved from Charity Water's donation messages. This girl knows how to tell a story! Made me think of Elvis if you just tacked on a "Thank you very much." HAPPY 29th BIRTHDAY ADAM from your biggest fan in El Paso, TX. I am only 9 years old and have been sooo lucky to see you perform twice - LIVE!!! My favorite was in Costa Mesa, CA! After your awesome performance you came out by the busses and I got to say, "Adam I LOVE YOU" and you turned your head towards my direction and you looked into my eyes said "Thankyou" in the sweetest voice. And you had the most beautiful smile and sparkling eyes when you said it!! I will remember that most special night FOREVER!!!! I LOVE YOU and YOUR AMAZING VOICE!!! (My whole family does too!) LOTS of LOVE, Rebecca Weber

I guess it's a bit late to comment again on Alison. Many other comments are from people who are disappointed with her diction. I guess I got used to NOT being able to tell what the lyrics are in many songs when I was a kid. Didn't think rock was about good diction. Oh well. I can only make out about half the words in this song featuring some rock greats. ;D

(On another note.....Just Karen.....what am I doing wrong with my AVI? I've tried all sorts of ranges and BB still looks short. Is it the picture? I want those long legs to show.) It is a very tall and narrow picture. If you change the width to 67 and leave the height at 100, you will get that long lean look you want ... Thank you -- my guesstimate was pretty close at 70, but I like knowing. And I love the shrug and grin ... there's actually a great pic of him doing a similar "I know, I'm ridiculous, but ain't it fun?" shrug/grin (ooh -- that could be a new word, Adam's shruggrin) while lying on his side on the stage, but I didn't have a url for it.

It may be that Allison's diction is not worse than most rock singers. But Adam's is so much better that we are used to it as the standard. Some may say we understand Adam's words because we know all the songs by heart. But that is not true. Well, it is true that we know his concert songs by heart (we would all have nailed the lyrics game on The Talk) but even when he sings songs unfamiliar to us, we understand what he is singing. A great example of this is "If Only I Can Get Thru This" at the Upright Cafe. I had never heard the song before. The words fly by at top speed. The recording is not high quality sound. Yet, I understood almost every one even the first time I heard it. Then, to hear that he admitted that he was a little buzzed at that performance (I think it was this one a fan asked him about ordering dessert, right?). Even more impressive. (Some folks have commented that Adam lisps in the Upright Cafe clips. While that is how it sounds, it is actually the poor sound reception of the camera that distorts the "S" sound. I have heard it in other recordings of performances of artists that I have attended, so I know it is the recording equipment, not the performer.)

Thanks for posting those links. One of the peripheral things to Adam that warms my heart is seeing the relative success of his dancers and band members. Most of the glamily were unknowns before they became a part of Adam's group. Being a part of Adam's band/dancers have helped them to live a dream as artists. Their families must be so proud. I will stop spaming and go back to lurking, but.... I grew up in the south on a farm. My family was poorer than poor monetarily, but we were somewhat Waltonesque. My brothers and sisters dreamed a lot of dreams living on that farm. We talked and dreamed under a starlit sky as we pondered the constellations. We grew up during a time of racial unrest and segregation. We dreamed with no real expectations that dreams would ever come true. Whether it was music, science, mathematics, politics, etc., we followed a dream not based on whether it was possible, but based on a compass north that we followed because it was in our hearts. I so love seeing Adam's band and any other artist follow the beacon and the light that has been emblazoned on their hearts. Lifetsytles is not about sexual preferences. It is about choices on how one wants to live. Readon, you really touched my heart with your post. Thank you for following your dream and sharing your thoughts.

In fact, sometimes precise diction turns me off a song or a performance.
