Some extra tidbits of moomins (and only vaguely related to Sauli's blog). Almost all the mugs found in the links posted are ceramic which is common nowadays. 40-50 years ago mugs were not as popular as they are now. Tea and coffee were normally served from cups. The mugs made of enameled steel were for children to use as they don't break easily. Also on camping trips and at summer cottages enameled mugs were considered more practical. Today enamel is retro. Sauli's mug is an enameled steel mug like here www.finnstyle.com/muurla-moomin-mugs.htmlIt has been said that although the moomin books are labeled as children's books they are actually written for adults due to the deep themes and thoughts put forward that might exceed young readers' comprehensive abilities. In the cartoon film adaptation the message is somewhat simplified to make it more accessible for children. However, there is still food of thought and discussion for parents with their children. Quote from the moomin wiki page: The Moomin stories have a very humane message. The books have caprices and utterances which ponder life and ways of the world. Snufkin comments on freedom: "One can never be entirely free, if one admires someone else too much." Little My expresses possession: "Possession means worries and luggage bags one has to drag along." The books were written in Swedish which is a second official language in Finland. We have a Swedish-speaking minority which results in that all laws and other official material is published in both Finnish and Swedish, we have schools and a university where you can study in Swedish, speaking Swedish is a prerequisite to get a permanent job in state offices etc. Tove Jansson was as Finnish as anybody else, only her mother tongue was Swedish. It probably has no relevance but Tove Jansson and Tuulikki Pietilä were a lesbian couple. We can deduct that knowing their names are female names but that might not be the case for foreigners. Maybe because of that we have an idiom of "the moomin mug method" which refers to contraception without an actual intercourse conducted at home. Or then again, the mugs were popular and the idiom was a result of that, who knows. (The mugs were popular because the moomins were/are popular.)

I have missed a handful of days in the last week or so and I feel like I have missed some major Sauli news, only I can't seem to find it in his blogs/Tutkas. What's the deal with Fault magazine and Elle? Do we know how long he will be in Finland? Where did I miss this info?
And as always, THANK YOU for all the Sauli translations and info. Other Finns and picture posting members included!

Hi, there will be 7 pages of Sauli's pics (if they are the same as the couple we have so far seen, they will be beyond gorgeous ones) in the next Fault magazine + an interview. Sauli's been just now promoting the Fault magazine, if you go to the picture thread's last page or so here in Sauli Central you'll see the Liis Anton pics that are from that photo shoot for the Fault. The Finnish Elle has an interview, if there's a translation I guess it's in the News on main board. Sauli will be hosting a televised fashion show on Friday here in Finland, there will be a stream by one of the Finns on Twitter, and I guess it will be recorded too by pretty many. And at the same time we will have the American Idol episode with Adam and NCOE - so the boyfriends will be at the same time on TV on two diffrent channels, LOL. We don't know how long he will be in Finland. There will be a new Tutka tomorrow, so maybe he says something about that in it. Adam will be busy in Europe in June and part of July at least, so Sauli might be here in Finland or with him, they for sure have that figured out between themselves LOL. The info has been a bit here and there, so no wonder if you are not totally up to date with it . For Mia's and mine part of translations - you are very welcome .

Sauli Koskinen who is promoting Finland abroad arrived in Finland on tuesday due to new work projects. One work project he will be doing this summer is 'Tutka Roadshow Suomi' that will be shot in the beginning of June for Ilta-Sanomat website. Sauli and IS-journalist Katri Utula will travel in Finland with a video camera. "We will be fooling around in several locations in Finland and get acquainted with towns to spend summer in" paraphrases Sauli. In nearly every episode you will see well-known Finns in their home towns. This week Sauli is busy with the fashion week since he will host the highlight event of the week for Yle Teema (tv channel) on friday at 'Voimala'. "I am visiting Finland for work in the first place but of course will meet a lot of friends during the visit" tells Sauli.

Katri's blog (May 28, 20120) is titled "Welcome on board!" and tells us a little bit about Tutka Roadshow Suomi that she and Sauli will be doing shortly. They will start filming next week and will visit some destinations in Southern Finland within a short distance from Helsinki. Alleged destinations include both their home towns Hyvinkää and Loimaa as well as two cities Turku and Tampere that are the biggest in the country after Helsinki together with its neighbours Espoo and Vantaa. Something is planned for the metropolitan area too but no details revealed yet. Katri apologises that they cannot inlcude destinations farther away due to their apparently hectic and overlapping schedules. Many readers have contributed with good ideas where to visit but all the fun in other parts of the country has to be postponed this time. She is hoping to be able to execute the ideas later because Finland in the summertime is so beautiful and full of wonderful places to visit. They plan to publish first episodes before Midsummer. Her wish is that the sun would contribute next week too... blog blogit.iltasanomat.fi/kyttaaja/tervetuloa-kyytiin/2137pic

Thank you guys for keeping us up to date on Sauli. Seems funny, but I really miss him. He feels like he's "home" but I can't help but feel like he's "away from home" at the same time.
Wonder when the guys will be together again. In London, I suppose.
Question: How do you Finns think Sauli did on his hosting gig? Was he good enough to get considered for other projects? I'm so happy for him and would love to see him get even more recognition. I realize that he was a celebrity before meeting Adam and I think he's amazing.

Metrolive celebrity gossip website (metrolive.fi May 30, 2012) metrolive.fi/jutut/artikkeli/8866/sauli-koskinen-vitsaili-putkareissustaan-suorassa/?rel=isviihde1Sauli Koskinen joked about his night in the can in live broadcastAdam Lambert's boyfriend spends at least part of the summer in Finland Sauli Koskinen who lives in Los Angeles, was hosting the Näytös 2012 event last friday with Anni Hautala, familiar from The Voice radio channel. At the beginning of the broadcast Sauli joked about the incident last december when he ended up spending the night in detention with his boyfriend, Adam Lambert, known from the American Idol competition. Hautala asked Sauli if the Big Brother-winner has possibly moved back to Finland. "I just moved back to Helsinki and I live in the cell of Kisahalli. Well, it was half a year ago but everybody certainly knows where I was the last time" joked Sauli in the live broadcast. Before the broadcast Sauli told to Metrolive.fi that he doesn't know when he will be back in Los Angeles. However, he has planned how he will spend the time in Finland. "I would like to visit a summer cottage, swim in a lake and BBQ with friends, lead the idyllic Finnish summer life." The Näytös 2012 is available in YleAreena. (in Finland only)
