LindaG23 Yesssss yesssss! Don't fly with the moths! I have so waited for Adam to shrug all his 'I want to be good/succesful in this genre' off and just go his own way. It sometimes reminds me of some great painters, who first try to hone their skill and develop their style by imitating people that they admire, before going 'ah fuck it' and then do what they themselves want or need to do. I saw a Toorop exhibition a year or two ago, where you could see this so well. But Mondrian did it too, and even, in a way, Picasso. I actually don't really care whether Adam is going to be wildly succesful with A4 (except...very selfishly, whether it is going to be enough for him to tour the album). I do care to hear his own voice, his art, unbridled, unleashed. And if he needs his time to find that, I will gladly wait!

Oh yeah, it was Elton John who said that the Queen's catalogue is like a Ferrari locked in a garage and Brian who said they found the driver

I love the current discussion. Adam is incomparable and he needs to make music his way by focusing on what he does best. He has his idols from the past and present but I think and hope that he has come to the realization that being his authentic self is what will get him the most attention.

For those, who are not interested in Jack or speculation about Adam’s relationship, please scroll. 😉 stampsgalI had posted the link to that interview with Jack yesterday as well. And those were also the paragraps, that I found the most interesting. I posted another interview, where Jack talked more about his work. I had the feeling, that he has a lot in common with Adam. I naturally have no idea, what his realationship with Adam is. I like to speculate, but in the end I‘m happy, when Adam is happy: with or without somebody to love. And it’s only his decision, who that somebody is or what kind of relationship(s) he has. Just to make that clear. Hey, I‘m not even sure, if Jack is even gay. But now my speculation: From the instagram stories, that I have seen of Jack in LA and now in London, they both look, as if they might be dating. We actually didn’t see much in LA: just a few videos and pictures from both Jack and Adam, Jack‘s snippets told fans, who recognized Adam‘s house, that he had been there. I didn’t think by the way, that he really stayed there for more than one or the other night, meaning he wasn’t a „longterm houseguest“ like Terrance. Instead they regularly met in their off-time. I can‘t say that for sure of course. Then there were Adam’s Insta videos, were he was watching that music awards show with Janet Jackson ect. (I don’t remember its name), where Jack was with them (together with Jason and two other friends). All these videos were completely harmless: friends hanging out together. The feeling, that there might be more, actually grew (just inside me😉), when Adam left LA for the tour. The vibe of Jack‘s stories went from „happy in Hollywood“ (he had actually been there for a job/filming from what I saw) to „lonely and sad in Hollywood“ ( he had still some work to do), to „I‘m finally more than happy to fly home to London“. Sure, that can have different reasons. But it appeared exactly at the time Adam left. With Jack posting the videos from Adam’s pool the day before Adam left. Looking still happy, sexy and content, then his mood suddenly changed the next day. Fast forward to the posts from yesterday. (I‘m actually sure, they have seen each other before the tour started in London. But without Adam in the picture or the background of Adam’s house 😉, it’s almost impossible to tell. The same goes for yesterday). Adam was spending time with a few friends in London. All normal and fun and without the „story“ in LA I would not speculate based on this, if there might be more going on. But from „my“ perspective it all sums up. Did you realize, that they were wearing matching shirts? Another coincidence, maybe. I know, Adam has said in an interview in London before this tour started, that he is single. I do believe him. But that doesn’t rule out, that something might be evolving, that is not anyone else’s business (yet). We know, Adam has been dating for years. And of course he doesn’t tell the public about that. He himself has to figure things out first. And either it works or not. I‘m sure, he will only tell the public about a new boyfriend (whoever he will be), when he is sure about it. His hardcore fans might know a bit earlier, but not much, I think. It’s his private life after all. All together I just love to speculate. I guess I‘m a complete dork in this! 😜 And usually I‘m wrong. But who knows, we will see, if/how that story evolves. PS: For those of you, who (sometimes rightfully) say, that they don’t like it, when Adam’s friends post from his house and it looks like they are „showing off“ : most people, would NEVER know, where these friends are. Actually I don’t think, that Jack (in this case) had ever shown Adam in any of these stories or pictures until yesterday in that bar. OK. Speculation over for now. Adam will be back on tour tomorrow and leave for Milan soon.

The discussion on the thread reminded me of an 2010 interview where Adam talked a bit on why he went more with pop sound from the get-go. www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Gj0U34dxgkThere were tons of interviews but this one I recalled. I'm really happy he can do anything he wants now, musically, as he said in recent interviews

Very interesting interview, metislight. I remembered it after I started listening and am so glad you posted it. The interview elucidates my point that Adam, in an understandable way, has been holding back. He has been trying to fit a huge round peg in a small square hole, but that needs to stop right now, mister.
OK, Adam you have carved out your spot, now is the time to fill it completely with the voice that no one else has. Give people who do not go QAL concerts the chance to say, "holy shit, did you hear that!" I listened to Broken Open again last night and thought, there is no one else who could sing this vulnerable, light, haunting song. And that same person can rock the house with arena anthems. Give the people huge and full or soft and light. Give them chanting or tears. We can handle it and I truly think the press and critics will agree that that is authentic. Like you nic, I selfishly want A4 to do well enough to tour. Anything after that is just icing on the cake.

On a side note, marionm ... Germany pulled that game back from the brink didn't they. Enthralling match, Congrats! Those extra minutes can be a bitch for some teams, just ask Serbia.

He was fresh all Idol, but already he had a real perspective on what it all meant and how the show was viewed. He had a vision of where he wanted to go. And his comments about the music industry, getting signed, etc. were very astute. QAL has been a monumental opportunity for him and he has capitalized on it to its fullest. It has affected his "timing," so to speak, on his solo work, but hey, that's what a career is all about. It has twists and turns, full of the unexpected. He will surely be in the annals of rock history due to QAL Now we all wait in anticipation for A4 and see where the next incarnation takes him.

LindaG23 I can totally follow your train of thought. In essence it has been said before but I think you've voiced it very very well. cassie has compared Adams voice to a Ferrari. I've stated that Adams "easy way" may not be cookie-cutter, mainstream heartthrob pop but "rock", or his very own version of it. Something people expected of him after Idol, but he didn't want to do at the time. (He's said he's struggled with that at the time) Exactly what you and others have described Adam needing to "find his own genre" is what I feel he is doing, what is happening with this album 4 and precisely the reason I can sometimes hardly contain myself in anticipation of the new music. I Love the moth and butterfly analogy. A Unicorn just doesn't blend in with horses. I think any "genre" can become "mainstream". Eminem had a rap song become mainstream. 50 cent had mainstream success with hip hop. EDM has become mainstream. Harry Styles is having success with his rock album and rocking his suits. Carrie Underwood (country) is doing massively well, from all I understand, so is Helene Fisher (Schlager). Helene hasn't had a lot of songs on the radio but is the biggest thing around. Andreas Gabalier (also Schlager) is filling stadiums. Has he had one hit on the radio? I can't think of one and I'm seriously asking if someone knows. A lot of the US teen Idol stars did arena tours here without a radio hit. (have emphasized this many times before) In any case I fully understand what you mean and thank you for finding such good words for it and my anticipation for A4 is up 100000% again lol P.s. What a GAME last night! #gerswe Some of the people you just mentioned who are very successful and filling arenas, etc. are artists I am not familiar with. And that is VERY interesting because, as you say, you don't necessarily have to have massive radio play to be successful. Heck, I don't think Queen had huge radio play, at least in the US. There are various ways to get your music to work for you. I've been one of the ones here who keeps saying how important radio play is, but I'm beginning to see the bigger picture, especially in light of how well some other artists are doing without being on the radio all the time. People listen to music is so many ways now.
