It is the first time we have confirmation that Cuckoo was the single Adam wanted to release and was overruled? I don't remember if he said that in interviews before. It was so long ago LOL. He talked about the pronoun changes many times but that the label changed the single? We discussed it for years in the fandom that Cuckoo should have been released as a single. And after that they insisted on him making a cover album. I'm glad Adam was that brave as to part ways with them. Maybe I'm alone in this, but I hate Cuckoo. Well, not hate exactly. Just find it a bit too corny and don't think it would have worked as a single at all. Trespassing as an album, apart from a few great cuts, has not "aged" well with me. My go-to, at this point, is FYE. Highly controversial statement here, but I don't feel like songwriting is Adam's strength. There are really talented songwriters out--writers,poets--who know how to craft a great song. I actually would rather have Adam leave the writing to others. Don't hate on me!! Adam has a lot of strengths and a lot of talents. But, for me, writing is not one of them. And in retrospect, songs like Cuckoo, Trespassing, Two Fux just make me cringe a little. I LOVE Cuckoo. Even my mom loves Cuckoo and she doesn't like Adam's music too much. I remember a poll Adam let us choose our favorite song in. There were 4 songs: Cuckoo, Trespassing, Naked Love (not sure about this, just have a feeling it was there) and NCOE. I remember Cuckoo won the poll! And they stil went with NCOE (the last place in the poll!). I didn't get it at all then. I had my suspicious though and I see my feelings about the album and the singles were right. (Still sucks though :( ) |
