Hey, holst and lynne -- thank you!  amw Texas can't seem to get a break. My son and I were talking about the TX fires last night. He said 2 people had refused to evacuate and died. That one leaves me flabbergasted! I can understand some not wanting to leave their homes during a hurricane. It seems like there is a chance to survive. I don't understand the how anyone thinks they'll survive a fire. I'd start organizing or bettter yet packing and loading the car if the fires were anywhere near me. , that isn't exactly what happened here. The circumstances of one death haven't been released yet. For the fellow they have explained, he and his fiance did evacuate and were staying in a hotel. They went back to the house because the guy wanted to retrieve some expensive tools. When they saw how close the fire was, the guy told his girlfriend to return to the hotel and that he would grab the tools and follow quickly. He never made it. So, yeah, dumb. But more understandable. Look at the speed at which fire travels on this video of the blaze destroying Bastrop State Park: I can't imagine this guy's last moments. What regret he must have felt over those damn tools. |

I can't find Talk Playground on my TV channel guide, either, (ANYONE KNOW WHAT TIME IT'S ON WEST COAST?) but hopefully will by Sunday. Its gonna be great! Loved the MTV Talk Playground clips; thought they were very interesting.
OT re our Texas fires - when I went outside this morning to get the paper, I realized the winds had shifted and I could see a light haze and could smell the smoke from the fires that are about 40 miles from us. Thankfully, they have been contained but there are still some fires smoldering. I think most people have been able to return to their homes or what is left of them. So very sad.
AMW--so sorry to hear your news. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Sending you a big hug.

That is great. Not my favorite photo of him for that purpose. Fun photo, but highly photoshopped. I quickly scrolled through the list, which gives brief bio info for each man. I ended up noticing that, by far, most of the men were born in the 1960' and 70's. Many, many of them are over 35 years old. That made me wonder if a comparable list of sexy women would have a majority of them that age. Don't know, haven't paid attention, but I doubt it. :-/ :-/ bet they would with Halle Berry, Jennifer Aniston, Courtney Cox, Selma Hayack, Angleina Jolie, Demi Moore and many other over 40 women probably ranking pretty high on the list. It is not like it used to be where women were tossed aside once they hit 30. Now society recognizes that women get sexier with age too. Awww, you are so right. I couldn't think of who the "older" women would be. I feel better now.  |

AMW, I'm soooo sorry. That is devastating. I so wish it would just freaking rain there. In Southern California, we are used to fires, but it is nonetheless life-altering and heartbreaking when it happens to your city or neighborhood. Please stay safe. Love Adam in those clips. I think the show only airs throughout Europe or other countries NOT the U.S. We'll have to get it from YouTube or a stream, I think. (I guess so MTV U.S. can air a millionth rerun of "Jersey Shore" or "Teen Mom.") juniemoon, love your essays!!! So many interesting concepts and you're right, Adam isn't just selling music, he's selling a feeling. I recently listened to a radio interview from a guy who was pimping his book about the bar/restaurant industry. He had 30 years of experience designing and launching some of the biggest in the U.S. He said exactly that. His contention was that no matter what the industry, the proprietor is selling a feeling, not a product. The emotional reaction evoked by a product is what inspires people to enjoy the initial experience and return for more. I think the vast majority of Adam fans enjoy listening to him talk as much as sing. That's a rare thing, which means his ability to evoke an emotion is not just about music and his voice, but about his magnetism, thought processes and charisma. Then of course, the fact that his voice is stunningly gorgeous and so is he, just adds layer on top of layer. (Like that peanut butter cup cheesecake thing on p. 1, Reihmer.   )  [/quote]

I don't know why the gif wouldn't load. Did photobucket change the maximum size? One of the radio stations I follow on twitter linked to a funny video and channel also had the video where Reihmer's cute gif came from.
