Any idea why I cannot watch on my ipad, the YT links 4Msrmyn has in the Idol archive?? Tells me movie cannot be loaded. Works fine on my laptop. Don't have an ipad, so I don't know. I sometimes need to take the video title and find the very same video with a shorter link to get it to embed. This is the playlist link: www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=742947CD3A1CC931

yeap, just checked my own statement above one more time to be sure that our video listed here as dress rehearsal is as I say and yes, it is.
If you run the 6:07 video (live performance) from 0:54 onwards and start it in parallel to the 1:57 video (from beginning) you can see that it is not the dress rehearsal. It is exactly the same live performance, until about 2:36 when the two performances all of a sudden differ substantially and the dress rehearsal portion from the replay is edited into the 1:57 video.
This edited / pasted together version was posted since over a year as 'the dress rehearsal' - satisfaction video all over Adamland and to my knowledge is the only version available. For a certain period of time you could actually find this edited version on the net, mis-labeled as result show performance / reprise and that created even further confusion. That wrong label was spread around the web, was on multiple blogs and some minor press too.
By the way, I also recall that Jacob's reports were somehow edited / somewhere, (Justjill, I am getting the same sense you are having) and I would not be surprised if this satisfaction mix-up is actually evidence to that point. Because if Jacob compared one of the mislabeled 1:57 versions, thinking that it is the reprise, with the live performance then he would have heard them to be essentially the same. But this mis-labelling only happened in the web-sphere about 1 year after idol.
From Ring of Fire onwards I recall many of the words and phrases Jacob is using. Strangely, all the earlier ones seem quite foreign to me and I have a pretty good memory and I don't recall reading the earlier essays. Something is strange here or copied wrong and mislabeled as well.....
Does anyone have the Jacob texts and has extracted them in the early days from shortly after idol. I recall him being quite negative about Adam initially, including at least the satisfaction performance, and I don't recall BoW write-up, but by RoF he was fully on board the Adam train. He was greatly amusing and wonderful to read, no matter whether he was on Adam's side or not, in either case it was observant and insightful. Not sure what happened here with the texts on TWOP or livejournal. Somewhere there is a mistake, I believe.

First of all: Here is the video that compares the dress rehearsal sections that were used at the end of the show for the replay and telephone numbers with the corresponding portions from the actual live performances. The differences are astounding. www.youtube.com/watch?v=tJppr4Ofmo8Secondly, I always thought that whenever the dress rehearsal video from Satisfaction shows up on youtube, it has been the live version with the ending from the dress rehearsal superimposed on it. I don't believe that the whole song in our archive or any other archive that I am familiar with is actually the whole dress rehearsal performance. Going off to listen to it again to what is posted here to be sure, but I think that the song is the the live performance, except for the ending, which is from the replay segment. I don't believe that the complete dress rehearsal was ever available, but I do recall that a lot of mis-labeled or confusing statements were made about these versions over the last two years. Hope I am not adding to that confusion. Therefore... Be right back, just to check one more time. craazyforadam - this was like getting 5 mins of "new" Adam - some are incredible, like the Feeling Good was completely different... but by now we know how he works, you give him 200 concerts - he gives us 200 variations...just a wonder of a man ....

Perhaps it was changed before I ever read it the first time?? I always thought Jacob had a thing for Kris and Adam wasn't his type. He made a lot of comments about Adam's skin and made a lot of weird, to me, comments about secrets that I still don't get. I have to read them all again.

reminiscent of the FYE AMA choreography ;D pleasure to watch! Not only the AMA choreography, but there are also elements from Crawl through Fire, i.e. the singer standing in the middle singing and a whole group of people crawling and with one hand reaching up to him - longingly... or some elements are taken from the red pants - Crazy performance. This guy sings fever and visually pays homage to Adam in tons of ways and he gets it right. Gets the essence of what Adam is visually bringing to performance art and duplicates it here. There is a difference between honoring an artist and copying him and this one gets it right. I love what this Spanish contestant has done. Watched it multiple times and don't mind doing it again

4msrnym and Nica: What is on TWOP and what is on livejournal seems to be identical in content (with the livejournal version being a subset of the original). But I believe that there used to be a different version on TWOP that now seems to be gone...and yes, I remember all that negative stuff about skin and so forth too - but he did come around somewhere between BoW and RoF, but what is posted now doesn't seem to be the original reports. Somebody will have them extracted and stored. I am sure that mystery can be resolved. ETA: here is page 8 for example on TWOP with that same text that now is on livejournal. www.televisionwithoutpity.com/show/american_idol/auditions_san_francisco.php?page=8This is a lot of insight to be gotten from just a couple of minutes of audition, as justjill already pointed out.

So I've been re-reading old thread at MJ's from back during Adam's season and tonight I was reading through one on the Larry King Live interview with the top 10. During that interview one of the fan questions to Adam was "How did you get so fabulous?" and his answer was "I was born that way". He then followed up with how unfabulous he was in high school but all of a sudden it hit me that we have totally missed an instance of Gaga theft!!! LOL. She stole "Born This Way" from Adam. LOL.
Disclaimer: Obviously I AM joking. LOL

Any idea why I cannot watch on my ipad, the YT links 4Msrmyn has in the Idol archive?? Tells me movie cannot be loaded. Works fine on my laptop. When you create a youtube channel and upload your own videos to your channel you have settings that need to be set to your preferences. One of the settings for each new video you upload is called syndication. The youtube subscriber who owns and uploaded the video needs to set this on "Yes, make this video available on mobile...." If they have it set to "No, this video should not be set to mobile...." it will not play on your mobile device. It is a setting that can only be done by the owner of the channel. I've taken a screen shot of a portion the settings page of one of my videos so you can see where this is done. I don't think this is done intentionally all the time. I think there are instances where the channel owner is not aware of the setting. ETA: The ipad is considered to be a mobile device.

He made a lot of comments about Adam's skin and made a lot of weird, to me, comments about secrets that I still don't get. I have to read them all again. Yes, true. Craazyforadam, I think you mean contrasting between the actual Top 36 show and the results show. There may have been dress-rehearsal footage, but that's pretty rare and I don't see that it's relevant. I have Terra's PDF of Jacob's recaps if anyone wants them. I don't have the Adam-only parts, I don't think. 4Ms, you are totally right about Jacob (an openly gay reviewer who is sarcastic to the point of caustic and doesn't hold back from editorializing) is HOT for Kris. He says it right out. The fact that he does have initial prejudice against Adam (and he does) only adds to his ultimate assessment. Do I think Jacob is infallible? Fuck no. He's jaded on Idol, he's an ass most of the time and he's going to see things through the filter of boorish ennui before anything, but yet, he gets that Adam is exceptional right off the bat. He can't always identify why and he still writes for his audience. But the sheer fact that he sees, "Holy fuck, this dude should be everything I hate, but yet I love him" is kind of major. (That develops over time, but it does happen.) Stick with it. He can be an ass, for sure, but damn, his caustic assessment is dead on a lot of the time. Yes, he does miss the point with Adam in a general sense, but he realizes what power he has on a deeper level. (He WILL fanboy over Kris, so be prepared for that.) It doesn't surprise me though. When we were on MJ's during the AI8 tour, there were a few gay male posters and they were all about Kris. They were totally hot for him. Jacob is in that camp, I guess.
