One, the comparison of Satisfaction videos....the other the texts posted as Jacob reviews here in today's thread. These are two different topics. The satisfaction videos are just a labeling issue, it does not matter a lot, and no there were no rehearsal videos ever available, to my knowledge. The Jacob reviews... imo there were earlier versions where he was critical of Adam and then came around to him because he recognized the talent. The presently posted version reads that he is in awe of Adam from the first audition onwards and I and a few others are recalling this differently. I have no recollection what he ever wrote about Kris, because I don't care and to be honest never have cared enough to remember. I did at some point read the complete Jacob reviews (all of AI8), but my brain refuses to retain anything but Adam...wonder why that is. Hope that clarifies the confusion. omigod, has anyone here figured out a way to have a life and stan Adam at the same time? Because I'm having a ~leetle trouble...and this is the slow time!!! I keep thinking, that's it, I'm done, and then I sit down at the computer to do *work* and I think, hmm, wonder what's going on at ATOP? And then I find myself caught up in some discussion or another, regardless of whether I post or not.  I get the feeling you all are better at multi-tasking than I am.... Anywayyyy....thank you (I think, haha) to whoever posted the AI rehearsal vs. performance link -- I have been wanting to watch that. Which reminds me, do we have the AI confessionals archived? I've never seen those -- guess I should check the AI section. I suspect 4Msrmyn (hope I've got the name right -- if not, I'm sorry!) has it there. My 2 cents on Jacob --- I didn't discover Adam until season 8 was almost over, and it took me a couple more months to discover TWOP. But I remember reading Jacob's essays after the fact, and LOVING them. He's got such a funny, eccentric and yet in some weird way spot-on view of things. And his writing is great, if a little hard to decipher at times. Very impressionistic. I remember LOVING the way that he was won over by Adam. I do remember him being somewhat disdainful and even caustic in the beginning, but that made his comments as he fell under the spell even more satisfying to read. Disappointing if those early negative impressions have been lost, because that was part of the fun of reading his Adam journey. One thing I think I remember clearly (ha) is that he didn't initially recognize Adam in his TOMT suit, and after the performance he said that Adam had a voice like angels ice-skating.  Going to read what's there now... ETA: have ONLY read Jacob to see what he said about Adam, lol. Have no idea what his writing is like now. But I thought I remembered him saying that he was finished writing about AI at the end of season 8 -- and then he wasnt. I wonder if he stayed and his heart's not in it? Because of course, it's all about Adam, why would anyone be interested in a season without him? ;D Silly girl! Now what could possibly be that important about real life that would take you away from Adam? |

I have only 86 posts so far since February and you have 116, we are both featherweights in the 'Glambert Division', but I am even lighter than you are. Did you really mean to ask me that question? ;D To answer your question. Yes, I try to keep a balance and that is why you see very few posts from me and I have been absent from here for many periods and different reasons. Glad you liked the rehearsal vs performance youtube. And fully agree with you about Jacob. Looks like time for me to step away and tend to the rest of my life...  |

The choreography is so good. AND I LOVE FEVER! Wish it had been a single.Does anyone recall how it did in New Zealand? ETA: NVM. #19 on the Top 40. Whilst Fever didn't chart super well here (but top 20 ain't too shabby either ) I gather most of the national stations are still playing FYE, WWFM, IHHY and Fever regularly still \o/ Also as eri9 posted here the other day that some radio station (not Liam's station) played OOL!!!! We're just not sure which one  And don't forget one of the biggest stations used him as sole promo for their new branding look just a few weeks ago. He did exceptionally well here with #1, so am excite to see how far he goes with #2.   |

Re: Jacob's love/hate reaction to Adam. I downloaded terra's pdf of his writing for the entire season, and thoroughly enjoyed reading thru it. My impressions? He is intrigued by Adam from the first appearance in audition. Intrigued enough that he went to You Tube and found additional performances. "but whatever,go watch him on YouTube because this lady is secretly the talented Chris Crocker and maybe the weirdest fucking thing I've ever seen in my life, and I cannot WAIT to see him freak out all over America's face."
At the same time, I think Adam made him uncomfortable. Perhaps because he was not conforming to the way gay men are supposed to portray themselves on a public platform? The old meme of, "We want gay men to be proudly out and wave the flag, BUT, don't make the straight people uncomfortable. And don't flaunt or emphasize your sexuality. You can be cute as a button, wholesome, and vanilla (but with a better sense of fashion than a straight guy), or you can be the funny stereotype, but you can't be edgy, outrageous, or smoldering. America will not be able to handle that, so neither can I."
But, over the weeks, Adam won him over by being himself, by being a contradiction, by being charming, by singing his face off, by messing with everyone's minds, and by being so damned good at it all. It just took Jacob a while to "get it." I think that Slezak had a similar reaction to Adam, didn't he? First thinking, "Whoa, this guy/girl is just tooooo..... Not sure I want straight people seeing this." Later, realizing, "Hey, this guy is incredible. I'm proud to claim him."

Lol... if you do figure a way to #bert and deal with RL simultaneously, please, please let the fandom at large know - K? You will be hailed as a Goddess amongst us all  And yes, this is the 'quiet time'. Scary huh! When GNT was on, I would regularly wake up to 30 PLUS pages of overnight posts.
