Broadway blockbuster Wicked is ready to defy gravity again, this time celebrating the show's 15th anniversary since its iconic Broadway debut. Bringing witching season to NBC, the network announced on Thursday (Sept. 27) the special musical event A Very Wicked Halloween: Celebrating 15 Years on Broadway will air on Oct. 29. NBC will take viewers back to Oz with a very special Halloween party in the form of a concert tribute, featuring the original cast's Kristin Chenoweth and Idina Menzel -- who will both perform and serve as hosts -- alongside Ariana Grande, Pentatonix, the current Broadway company of Wicked, and more to be announced. The televised tribute will feature songs from the musical and showcase other special acts to relive and celebrate the magic of the show, honoring the lasting cultural impact of the play. “‘Wicked’ is a blockbuster musical playing all over the world and still selling out night after night after 15 years on Broadway. We’re thrilled to be partnering with producer Marc Platt and the entire Wicked team to celebrate the enduring success of this show,” executive vice president of NBC Doug Vaughan said in a statement. Is Adam the most successful and/or famous person to come out of Wicked? I would say that Kristen and Idina are more famous/successful. But I would say Adam is the most famous male cast member? Maybe Kristen and India are more famous, i.e., well known, but according to Celebrity Net Worth, Adam is more successful in terms of income. YES! YES! YES! Finally, we'll be seeing Adam on American TV! And he's in such great company with lots of big names. This Wicked news is frosting on a very big cake!!!! Can't wait for October 29. My heart is full, my brain in full, my AFL calendar is getting VERY full. Now if we'd just get news on his next album, we'd be even more ecstatic! But I don't want to be greedy. His plate is really full right now. He'll have some great new things on his resume, and that may lead to other acting opportunities. The busier he is, the better! |

Adam Lambert
The upcoming NBC special A Very Wicked Halloween: Celebrating 15 Years on Broadway might just get even more “popular,” thanks to a new announcement of two new performers on Thursday (Oct. 11): Adam Lambert and Ledisi... plus a special performance from the Wicked cast.
Lambert is a Wicked alum, having already appeared in the first national touring of the musical. Ledisi is a Grammy-nominated R&B artist, also known for her portrayal of gospel singer Mahalia Jackson in the 2014 biopic Selma.
Lambert and Ledisi will be returning to Oz for the concert tribute alongside previously announced artists Kristin Chenoweth, Idina Menzel, Ariana Grande and Pentatonix.

I hope this will give more money to writers and singers and less to record companies.

YAY!!! Elvis tribute has Shawn Mendez, Ed Sheeran etc involved. Now Wicked has Ariana and Pentatonix. Lots of viewers there. The more the better -more exposure. Hope it generates more buzz for the new music. Can we now hope to get a new single before the year end?? Gotta use that buzz. Fingers crossed for a single
