Some nice convo I had with Avari. Avari @avarionline TFW you love chocolate & you love chips & you just had chips & have been promised chocolate, so you’re craving chocolate & you find out there won’t be any chocolate but there will be chips again & you’re sad about the chocolate right now even tho you still love chips Simone skaschep That's a great way of expressing some feels around today! Some only love the chocolate though and are tired of the chips. They also want to trow away the chips because of that. Even though both are offered with the same love. Simone skaschep I do love both by the way! Avari @avarionline Put it this way, my craving for chips is currently sated...but I would never throw any chips away or get mad at the people who gave me the chips and I know my craving for chips will come back soon 😁 Avari @avarionline And I know there will be chocolate someday!!! 😁 Simone skaschep My craving for chocolate is also much more present than my craving for chips. I must admit that. But yes! Chocolate is on the way and we'll manage with the chips as well if we need to 😉 Simone skaschep In the meantime we are getting all kinds of little candy bits thrown our way to keep the biggest craving away and even though it would not satisfy our craving for chocolate it will keep us occupied until the chocolate is ready.

I’m not really understanding this frustration with QAL. Artists like Adam do various projects these days. Some seem to think Queen is hijacking his solo career. I don’t think that’s the case at all. I see it as enhancing his career. Heck Queen prob saved his solo career. The tour we’ll be 2-3 months at tops. Based on past QAL tours. I seem to recall in 2015-2016. He released TOH, he did Rocky Horror, and a Queen tour. Unless Adams announced he’s postponing his LP. Than I think it’s just self entitlement. But that’s just my two cents. He has a lot of time to promote his solo stuff.

The chocolate/chips analogy is very apt, as far as it goes. However, it fails to take one situation into account. What about those who became fans because of the chocolate, then find themselves served a seemingly endless supply of chips...but they are indifferent to chips, or even actively dislike them? How long will they put up with a steady diet of chips until they give up on the chocolate?
Most of those speaking up in defense of more QAL are already huge chip fans. OK, dropping the analogy - it seems to me that the majority of you listen to every possible livestream, watch the Instagrams on repeat, spend hours on the videos, attend as many concerts as time and finances allow. Nothing wrong with any of that, and I'm not implying for a minute that there is. But stop and think of how you'd feel if Adam were devoting that kind of time and creative energy to another band whose music you don't enjoy - music that, for the record, is not, and will never be, his, no matter how well he performs it. Would you still be as wholeheartedly thrilled, even if Adam were making money hand over fist and playing stadiums? If so, I'd tip my hat to you if I wore one.
There's really no way to say this without sounding like a terrible person, but here it goes - I stan artists because they do work that I enjoy, and that speaks to me in a very special way, not because their work makes them happy. I'm guessing most artists do work that makes them happy, and I'm happy for them if that's the case, but that isn't reason enough for me to stan them. For those who are disappointed at the prospect of more QAL, it seems to me that QAL just doesn't connect with them, for whatever reason, and accordingly they aren't happy about more of it. I don't get why that's so hard to understand. It has nothing to do with Adam, or what's best for Adam, or how much fun Adam is having - it has to do with them, and what makes them happy, and for most fans, that's par for the course. Fandom for most is not a selfless activity, and there's no particular reason it has to be, as long as they aren't abusive to the artist for not complying with their wishes.
I agree with graciejane in that I believe Adam's solo career would be different if there had been no QAL, and it's sheer speculation as to whether it would be different in a positive or a negative way. Would he be less wealthy? Yeah, probably. Would he have fallen into relative obscurity without the QAL push? Possibly. Or maybe, without that artistic and financial security blanket, the way he approached his solo career might have led him in different and interesting directions that could have paid dividends in ways we can't imagine. There's no way to know. Anyone who states as a fact that Adam's solo career is better - or worse - because of QAL is overstepping themselves, IMO.
Speaking for myself, I totally get why Adam wants to ride the QAL train, and I don't blame him for it. I don't dislike QAL - during each tour I try to listen to at least one complete concert, and cherry-pick videos from the rest. That may be lame to the hardcore QAL fans, but it works for me. But whatever the reason for the almost non-stop QAL the past couple of years, I've just had enough of it. I make no apologies for that. I was hoping that 2019 would be QAL-free, but since apparently QAL will be on the agenda, I hope the year will shape up to be something like 2016 - QAL, solo music/promo/tour/whatever, the Playmobil movie, and maybe a couple of surprises here and there. Fingers crossed that 2019 will offer something for all of Adam's fans, not just the QAL subset that has already been very well-served since the collaboration was born.
