"Widows" did not do well at the box office and only opened with 12M. So another good reason to be mad that BoRap is doing well and pleasing the paying public. HA! Never mind that they did not even open on the same week. There are only a few movies a year that I want to see in the theater. Personally, I have no interest in a heist thriller but that is just me. Would change my mind if Adam were cast in one tho, lol. ‘Widows’ Isn’t Making Much Money At The Box Office. What’s Wrong With You, America? Two HuffPost writers, Zeba Blay and Matthew Jacobs, are here to tell you just how wrongheaded everyone was when they decided to catch “Fantastic Beasts! Here We Go Again, This Franchise Will Never End” or “Bohemian Rhapsody” instead of Steve McQueen’s poignant thriller about four women who band together to pull off the heist that saddled them with their late husbands’ debt. MJ: Somehow, people would rather see a bad Freddie Mercury biopic and a Mark Wahlberg comedy over a star-studded heist thriller that deserves a Best Picture nomination? www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/widows-box-office-whats-wrong-with-you-america_us_5bf5c1b2e4b03b230f9e52dd

@lurleene WOW, that sounds interesting and awesome! There is something I would like to share with you all because it is interesting to me and moving. I get to whitness two generations of gay men and they couldn't be more different. One is my uncle. He came out when he was well over 40 a few years ago. It was and is an internal struggle for him to accept it. He has a difficult on-off relationship. When that other guy wasn't faithful my uncle wasn't either. He got infected with HIV. This summer he revealed to my parents that he had spent 30 wishing every night he would't wake up again the next morning. he still goes through difficult phases, where he is more reserved and not as accessible. The other is my best friend (yes, the one that "looks-like" Adam). He came out this summer. He said he was seeing this guy. He had broken up with his girlfriend only a few month before. I was like: you expect me to be surprised? ^^...I reminded him that he told me that he had slept with a guy, before he even had his first girlfriend. I was the first one he came out to (yes, I sill feel flattered in a weired way lol). He said he felt like I would be most open and understanding. I just said: that if I go to an Adam Lambert concert I should be open The following weeks he came out to more and more friends. They all were cool with it. He kept his circle (our shared) circle of friends. His three siblings were also very chill about it. When he came out to his parents his mom gave him a big hug. His dad was a bit stunned but I've never heard anything that his dad changed his behavior towards him. Right now he is a phase of exploration. I told him to give Adam a big thanks for me being so understanding lol I can not begin to describe how it warms my heart an makes me happy how relationship has taken on even more depth. We were already very close after 10 years of friendship but he never wanted us to be mistaken as a couple (which we were a lot). He always wanted to keep a distance (no arms around each other etc.) Now there is so much more ease and closeness to our friendship. I cannot tell you how much my heart is overflowing.
It's just interesting to see how different it can be.
Thanks for sharing your story about these two important men in your life - both gay but from different generations - and how you being an Adam fan has made such a positive impact. I am very sorry to learn about your uncle and his ongoing struggles including his infection with the HIV virus, but on the other hand I am so happy for you how your friendship with your male best friend has solidified so beautifully through honesty and trust. Really cool to learn how Adam's existence has helped I can really relate to your story as I too am thankful for Adam beyond his music and artistry, as he has opened up my mind from the moment that he popped onto the music scene, and I kept talking about him a lot to friends and within my family. My son and daughter were teenagers back then. Then the AMAs happened and it provided an important discussion topic for all of us - the performance shocked us all and none of my family members liked what they had just seen on television. My heart dropped as I was instantly worried about Adam's career so I wrote a letter to ABC the same night to support him. The next day we all watched Adam's morning performance and interview on CBS and we slowly started talking about that double standard and how Adam has certainly helped address it. About a year later when my son was a Junior in High School, he came out to us at the dinner table. We were all surprised but it was fine and a non issue to any of us. I believe that Adam's existence and me continuing to be a fierce fan made my son realize that it's okay. A few years ago, at one of the radio show meet and greets in San Francisco, I thanked Adam for being quite an inspiration for me and our family - my profile picture is from that 20 second moment actually - and Adam listened attentively and said, "thanks that's so sweet" haha. I am sure he hears similar stories all the time. Yes, he is an inspiration, and I believe that he not only helped pave the way for other artists but through visibility and owning who he is has made many people on the spectrum feel more secure in who they are. Both my "kids" follow Adam and they both acknowledge now how groundbreaking and important that AMA performance was back then. I gather that in Europe it wasn't a big deal anyways, but in the US it was.
