Oh, James Durbin. Stay away from songs that Adam sang on AI. You just aren't going to be able to compete, and all you'll do is come off like a poor imitation.

Poor kid did he not watch Season 8 , when Gokey tried to be an Adam and did the scream... that was just a reminder from the Universe.... Why do I feel sorry for this kid ? the funny ears, the sweet eyes, the loving GF, despite his disabilities AND the fact that he needs just a few more years to mature. He's not quite ready, but in time, if he stays focused he will be. so now, he's just a little cringe-worthy on those high notes. I caught a utube of him singing While My Guitar Gently Weeps and it was good. He wasn't trying so hard. You know, I wanted to hate him...I mean...how DARE he be compared to Adam! Haha! But he's not THAT bad. He has no style sense, little control over his voice and isn't the most lovable of personalities......BUT he's got a potentially great voice. The next Adam Fucking Lambert? Not in a million years.....but he surprised me. I can't believe I'm watching the damn show again!

From twitter.com/lyndseyparkerlyndseyparker Lyndsey Parker Oh James Durbin, you did NOT just go there. 1 hour ago Oh god now Jame Durbin is singing "A Change Is gonna come." #stop 1 hour ago If James Durbin was aware of the passionate voting patterns of Glamberts, he would realize copying Adam Lambert is NOT a smart move. 1 hour ago RT @sneddonserenee @lyndseyparker wow ur really obsessed with Durbin aren't you? (<--no, I'm obsessed w/ Paul, Casey, Brett, Jacob, Rachel) 1 hour ago

You are right, he probably will have better chances of advancing far into the competition if he can create his own unique persona... I made a mistake of reading the comments on other sites ... and many were just nasty against Durbin ... that it called to mind Season 8 when I first posted in AI related blogs just because I cannot stand the attacks on Adam.... I kind of feel for this kid as he is younger than Adam and may not have his support system... but life is full of surprises.... maybe it has a happy ending for him.... just as Life gave us Adam and his music...a great thing I never anticipated I would get from a reality show....

Not for another Adam by any means, but this year mostly because I like Steven Tyler and there may be some talent in this group of kids.

James does need more time to "ripen." Has a wicked range, but not totally under his control yet. It also doesn't have the depth and richness of tone Adam's does. There is something unpleasantly sharp and brittle to the high notes. To be totally fair, Adam could sound like that too in some of the pre-Idol videos. I can hear the growth in his control, depth and finesse from then til now. If James has the opportunities Adam had throughout his 20's singing many different styles in many different genres and venues, he may also improve.
With Tourette's and with Aspergers, tho, he will have a very tough battle. The thing Adam had and has, probably equally or more important than the voice (can't believe I am saying that) is his remarkable people skills, his ability to collaborate harmoniously, his ability to converse with so many different people and code-switch to their style, his ability to read people, his ability to connect with eye contact. All things that are difficult for someone with James' disabilities. I think about SuBo being thrust into the limelight and her inability to cope and connect, despite a voice many love. I don't want to see James crash under the pressure.
I wish him well. Just wish everyone would stop comparing him to Adam, favorably or unfavorably,

Yes, have to agree. We like the male perspective. Kind of adds balance. Here's a question for you, when we go into the "shallow end" and post many pics and GIFs of Adam's best "features," would that bother you? Our other men seem to handle it quite well (I think.) How did you discover this board? Tell me "none of my business" if I am asking too many questions. It's fun to get new members. I'll answer and see if it shows up. Should I be like Adam and just get the preliminaries out of the way right away? I will be very happy to swim, which is my specialty, in the shallow end with you if it includes what I assume it does. I don't think my type is as specific as Adam's but I find it very hard to believe that even before his fame he had to go home alone very often. I'm sure I will be learning a lot more about him but from the decent number of videos I've seen and the Glam Nation concert I attended in Melbourne, FL he is one hot guy. This is sounding like more and more fun and since I need a little more shallowness in my life bring it on. Oh yes Applie Pie does waft through the threads from time to time..... and you probably have read that some of us come on board to find a way to put a smile on our faces, especially when RL is not on our side.... Welcome..... and cheers everyone.... it is always exciting to have the chance to broaden one's perspective....
