Why is everyone talking about the Parlotones? Did Adam tweet that they are one of his favorite groups? HI, SUPARDU! Adam didn't tweet about them, but someone did (? Susie was first person I saw tweet linking one of their vids). They're from S Africa, touring US now, and many really like them. Someone mentioned this song earlier in the thread. "Beautiful" ...and I liked every video I watched--a lot. Don't know how they'll be live w/o vids, but expect I'll like them because I'm a fan of their lyrics, too.* Here's another one that won many awards for video in 2010: *also a huge fan of $12 tickets in small venues for obviously talented bands, lol! |

No, there is no known connection to Adam whatsoever, other than that a bunch of Adam fans sort of fell in love with one of their vids being passed around Twitter a couple of weeks ago. Thanks, Hoopla! The Parlatones will be playing in D.C. next month, and I like them, too. I wonder if Adam knows about them?
It's almost two months since we met in Ste. Agathe. I want to go back in time to experience the show and meeting you and the rest of the Atopians again. It was over too fast!

Thanks for posting the videos. They have a good sound. It's good music the presentation is fun and interesting. IMO, it's just another example of good music that doesn't have to be centered around dance music and urban hip hop. I like dance music, but I like some variety in my music. Top 40 radio is so "the same" vibe. It seems that most of the music from American musician's has no innovation. It is so formulaic. Here's to innovation and hopefully we will have some in Adam #2. |

Wow, Um...when I went to listen to the Parlotones, I didn't know what to expect, thought that I might think they were alright but...I actually like them, voice is really nice, actually found myself actually paying more attention to the sound of his voice then the actually music. Kind of mesmerizing. This might be blasphemy, but his tone reminds me of a Freddie Murphy and Matt Belamy blend. Really liking beautiful.
I think I just might go and see them, when is their next concert here on the west coast, in California?

Aside from lots of musical theater, opera, etc., I don't have much live music experience. I went to hear Goldfrappe and Nikka Costa (because of Adam), and I'll go to hear the Parlatones because of you guys. "You made me want to listen to music again" and all that... (Before Adam, I had heard only Chuck Berry in the '90s, Jimmy Hendricks in the 60's, and the Eagles (free tiks a couple of years ago.. didn't care for them.) |
