Unless it drops dead or fails to get any more awards love, it’s sailing past $200m domestic and may flirt with $700m worldwide. It’s the third-biggest LGBTQIA flick ever in adjusted domestic grosses, behind only Interview with the Vampire ($105m in 1994/$229m adjusted) and The Birdcage ($124m in 1996/$256m adjusted). And it’s already the second-biggest musical biopic adjusted for inflation, behind Coal Miner’s Daughter ($67m in 1980/$228m adjusted). Lord! We figured BR would do well, but this is amazing! And BTW, Eber always comes up with the best one-liners. Just sayin'.

For weeks we had been seeing it reported that BR was second behind Straight Outta Compton (for highest grossing domestic music biopic) after it passed Walk The Line. Then BR overtook Straight Outta Compton for highest selling biopic ever and there was a ton of press about that accomplishment. Now they are second behind CMD adjusted for inflation. How are these things normally reported? Will BR get credit for being highest grossing music biopic ever (until someone passes them) or not?

How are these things normally reported? Will BR get credit for being highest grossing biopic ever (until someone passes them) or not? They seem to be reported 4 ways which is why every post talks about which way they are saying. However what "reported" means I'm sure is up for grabs. They'd probably be a lot easy to compare if they reported ticket #s instead of $s. A) highest real dollars 1) US only 2) Worldwide B) highest inflation adjusted dollars 3) US only 4) WorldwideStraight outa Compton was only a contender in #1 BoRhap is now #1 in 1 & 2 and is flirting with being #1 in 3 & 4 But that's just bio pics - now it's getting close to passing just for fun movies with LGBTQ themes
