That is good to know but the impression I had gotten when going through college apps with my daughter in 2000 was that it was still a barrier. Glad I am wrong about that because I never saw the sense in discriminating against the GED. JMHO --- the experience of my son applying to colleges and the entire associated process was not fun or user friendly! Something that important and expensive should involved better treatment and info to the students and parents. We actually ended up skipping most of it since she qualified for a full ride with Florida's Bright Futures scholarship so she decided to take that and not worry about trying for scholarships elsewhere. So now if I decide to by a lottery ticket I think of it as paying back my daughter's education rather than wasting my money. ;D

I checked the new Sauli pic in full size and man are his eyes red! Like, blood-in-your-eyeballs -red. Maybe he shouldn't have smoked, uh... incense that much. or maybe the dust/sand at BM irritated them True! Harsh environment for the eyes! ;D

Junie's blog brought this question to mind: Will there be a 2012 Adam Calendar? As long as it's still free, I'm in.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY NATTYGIRL (and I'm sure I've missed a lot) CAN"T WAIT FOR TONIGHT. I'm SO EXCITED BTW I don't like Joshua, He''s so dramatic and overkill. My favorite is Anya and 2nd place goes to Oliver. Hee...I love Joshua. I don't like Anya - she is sooooo pageant-girl fakey and did you see Olivier last week? He almost got hysterical last week because his model had boobs and he didn't know how to design for them. He complained the whole time about boobs. So funny. But we must remember that selective/slanted editing is everything in these reality shows. Would like to put Joshua into time out and buy him a T shirt that says DOES NOT PLAY WELL WITH OTHERS. Bert is just irritating and inflexible. Anya I like a lot. Olivier, anal does not begin to describe him, especially last week. The meltdown about boobs and curves would have been funny if it wasn’t so psychotic. I can’t see Olivier functioning in the real world AT ALL in spite of his talent. The others please me or aggravate me depending on the situation. I can’t wait to see Adam’s reactions tonight!

Problem with GED is that the better colleges don't accept GED they want actual graduation or at least used to and also a lot of the things necessary for a well rounded college prep and application to the better colleges and universities are things that you have to be going to an actual high school to get. Pulling out into home schooling while l looking for other options is at least something to be considered. I don't know about college acceptance of GEDs. It's my impression that home schoolers do pretty well on SATs. Extra-curricular activities and community service may or may not be still connected to a particular HS. Anyway, I think the point is that it's a viable option in a life or death situation. The hard part is for the adults involved to realize that that's what they're dealing with. I know quite a few people who have chosen to home school and the kids are so far ahead of their age groups, more well read, and can participate in public school activities like sports, and don’t know what else. I’ve never heard of a college not accepting one of them, and the colleges were as varied as Boston College, Penn State, U of SC, and Emory.
