I love his hands when he talks. So do I. Just yesterday when I was watching the EP interview for the second time ... WUT? you don't believe me ... OK, maybe tenth twentieth umpteenth time, I was wishing again that I knew how to make gifs because I would love one of just his hand from 1:59 to about 2:05 where he says Svengali situation. So graceful and expressive. Linda I don't know how to make gifs either. I tried to find the one that you wanted but they didn't make one yet. I will keep looking though. How about this one for now? ;D

Look at Adam. How different would the outcome have been if they showed a clip of Citizen Vein with Adam as frontman vs. Adam theater kid? There was the MTV report about Adam's Zodiac show roots so anybody with the internet wouldn't have thought Adam was a boy scout. ;D www.mtv.com/news/articles/1609637/adam-lambert-got-idol-training-at-wild-zodiac-show.jhtmlApr 21 2009 6:50 AM EDT 36,580 Adam Lambert Got 'American Idol' Training At Wild 'Zodiac Show' OOOH, Lulu, thanks for posting this, I haven't seen it in ages! They really got the best clips of Adam's performances on Zodiac.

Queen extravaganza without Adam???!!! What?!!!!??? Queen's Roger Taylor is launching a North American talent search that will offer vocalists and musicians the opportunity to star in the Queen Extravaganza. This guy, Marc Martel, does sound a lot like Freddie. Would love to get Cassie's take. www.youtube.com/user/QueenExtravaganzaBohemian Rapsody Same guy, Mark Martel Hmmm. Very interesting. He does sound a lot like Freddie. Not so much at the very bottom of his range, but in most of this, his timbre, or tone is quite similar. Freddi tended to squeeze the notes a bit more, making a sharper, more brittle sound, while this guys is a little richer and more mellow. He has the vibrato down well. Again, a little more controlled and consistent than Freddie's, but the frequency and use is very similar. He would be good doing a cover band. ETA: While I would love to see Adam singing some Queen songs because of their complexity, range and impact, Adam's voice is not at all similar to Freddie's, IMO, except that they both have big ranges. Their tones, their control, their breath support, are quite different. I think that Adam COULD squeeze his voice to imitate Freddie, but I don't think he would. Adam wants to be his own artist. He would actually be "dumbing down" his voice to sing like Freddie. (Any Freddie fans, don't attack me for that last statement.)

Was that Queen/Marc Martel thing already brought here? I haven't seen it before, he does sound a lot like Freddie, waiting for Cassie's take as well. ETA: Just saw Cassie's post above.

Thanks Katycake. LOL for the caption!
Regarding Ed: With the reorg, Ed was assigned/given a whole group of new artists (he did not go into more detail on who they are, but looks like more major acts). So his direct involvement with AO will certainly be less to almost zero. The only representative interacting with AO right now is FlashmodRCA, as far as I can tell who seems to be working for Ed. He/She is functioning as moderator / fan-interactor with RCA and that new thread is now the place to communicate with them in one place instead of all over the board and it's threads. The tone of communication over there and whole interaction was always a bit different that other fan sites - good or bad. The resources allocated to changing anything seem to be quite limited.
The 'news' section at AO is hopelessly behind. As long as they have to run every breath or fart through 20 gazillion committees, sign-offs and legal departments before it is allowed to be posted online, they will never keep up with fan message boards and I think they realize that and are not even trying to compete. The videos that are posted there are usually weeks or even months old.
Then there is the community/discussion forum, which is really the forum where everybody can post and that is where you will find the actual news because fans are posting them there. Right now, the forum is moving awfully slow. Whether people will be back when the single and A2 rollout are happening or whether everybody has moved on to other sites (i.e. Atop) remains to be seen.
But occasionally photos or articles show up there first, especially from oversees as AO still has a wider international representation than many other sites. Then somebody brings them over to here, as I have done a few times and so have many others. Usually though, this site here has now become one of the fastest trackers of Adam news after twitter itself and it seems the fastest at putting some new news into context (i.e. what does it mean that Adam is now EP?). Add to that the level of the discussion, the fun and also that bit by bit this site is developing the best archive or repository for Adam info, it certainly deserves our praise.
A hidden gem, because it does take some detective skills to find Atop, let's be honest. And I don't get the impression that this is an accident either, because once you are a forum and also visible on the front page of google, then you have exactly the AO problem, that your moderation needs go up.
There is talk over on AO about reorganizing their site with A2-rollout, but nobody is saying to what extent this will be or giving any details. Last time they talked about a reorg at AO, it ended up being fairly cosmetic in nature. I have no idea what resources RCA has committed to getting their own online sites in order and how far reaching their vision or plans are. I.e. overhauling the thread structure would already be helpful and would be easy to do. Updating the whole software, much bigger topic. And there are all kinds of options in the middle. Nobody knows what they will actually do.
It was interesting to read in the A&R article that Q3 posted today (thanks by the way - this was a great article), how the lack of an internet vision has destroyed the ability to stay current in the A&R section of the business. The lack to recognize the strategic element of IT has limited so many businesses and for some of them led to their demise, it is really amazing. But if I look at Sony/RCA from the outside as a fan and consumer, I think it is still their biggest Achilles heel to being successful. And managing fan interaction is only a very small part of that statement.

I think this is just Matt being Matt. Check online and you will find him clowning around doing similar things about Kris' guitar playing, or pretending to be super-manic Allison, etc. He clowned around a lot. Also, I know people have the impression that Matt was jealous of Adam but I do not believe he really was. I think he was talented, young, insecure and not able to connect with a large TV audience. But we never really knew what was going on behind the scenes on Idol. Just what the Producers showed us. Look at Adam. How different would the outcome have been if they showed a clip of Citizen Vein with Adam as frontman vs. Adam theater kid? Look at how Kris was presented -- good Christian singer-songwriter. Rather than out-of-work coffee house musician. They were all presented as cartoon characters. They had little or no contact with fans. They weren't even allowed to have Twitter accounts. And for my last "what if?" Who would have won Idol if Adam had been allowed to 1. Have a Twitter account and 2. Do press interviews. Hard to demonize Adam as the "bad kid" the "dangerous one" if you see him interviewed. He is just too nice. But we never knew that on Idol. It may not have been the story for him, but he told his own story even then. The way he charmed everyone in his audition, the way he interacted with Leila, his body language and his words during his critiques, the way he interacted with Smokey Robinson with such genuine listening, the way he tried to give the others involved credit, the adorable way he was during his song with Allison... It may not have been their story for him, but it was the story that came through to me and was part of the reason I started becoming so interested in him. Yep!! I remember one of the first posts I read on the AI site when I first went online to find out more about him (I remember how ridiculous I felt that first time. ... If only I had known. ) was from a woman saying how she was so prepared to dislike him because of the eyeliner and style were just NOT her thing, but then she quickly realized what a sweetheart he was and well, ofc, you know the end to that story ... I also think of that "Idolatry" (an absolute classic) right after Rock Week, I think, where he talks about how invested the producers were with the Danny vs. Adam storyline – the "light vs. dark" (oh hell, I'll just go grab the YT, brb ...) because it says it all. So. Awesome. (Still looking for pt. 2) Oh, they faked me out with the title.

mahailia "I miss AI8, would love a variety show with Adam doing something different every week." I agree with you on the variety show. I think he would be wonderful. He is a comic at times, and he is so good with other people. Knows exactly what to say, and we would be able to hear him sing every week. Should we write to Sony on that new web listing they just gave us? I sent an email to HBO suggesting that very thing a little while after the end of Idol.
