Once we change in America, the rest of the world will follow. I think you may be overstating America's power to effect change here. If this were true generally, the world would be a very different place. IMHO. sorry...that is really ethnocentric.....America is NOT the most socially progressive country in the world, by a long shot. Yikes...

There is a big difference between talking about how the picture makes one feel or how one's own SO would react to a picture of one like that and projecting how Sauli should feel or how Adam should or should not behave with respect to his relationship with Sauli.
But what makes me uncomfortable about this type of thing is that I have seen healthy, happy relationships destroyed by the influence of so-called well meaning friends making this same type of judgement on a person's behavior. Growing up in Louisiana I saw many instances where something as simple as one member of a couple simply attending an event alone because their partner was not into whatever it was being twisted into some kind of indication of them not loving their partner and the constant comments on this causing those couples to begin to doubt and be suspicious of each others behavior and in doing so withdrawing emotionally from each other and thus escalating the feelings of doubt and mistrust.
I've also seen wonderful amazing friendships destroyed by the unreasonable jealousy and suspicion of new girlfriends or boyfriends. I had an amazing circle of friends in college that was literally torn apart by one girls machinations as she dated her way through most of the group.
All of those things started with something as simple and well meaning as the statements made about this picture of Adam with his friend Jonte. So if my statements on all have this have seemed strong this is the background that I am coming from.
