Maybe when Adam said no there was nothing nailed down. It is not as if we have a timeline or the wants of Brian and Roger of how this all went down. Even Variety did not get it right after a few tries at first and they probably have better access than any of us.

Wow, what a great surprise!!! What a great day: Waking up to Adam’s Elvis performance, that carried me out of bed, while watching his beautiful pictures from his vacation. And now I just came home and find the news, that QAL will perform at the Oscars. The day can hardly become any better. As for the fact, that Adam had denied the appearance before: I believe, they were asked rather recently, as the Oscars were first said to only show 2 music acts. Then they decided to show all 5 nominated ones and now Queen + Adam. That show was still in the planning. I wonder if there were some negotiations with Queen insisting that Adam had to be a part of the performance? I keep imagining them trying to push gaga. So happy this is happening.

A medley perhaps? It will be amazing no matter what!!! My first thought was a medley. Do you know if they have a previously performed medley that includes Bohemian Rhapsody? In the Rock in New Year concert in the UK, the sang Killer Queen instead of the video taped middle section.

Perhaps the Oscars were interested in Queen performing a while ago but the terms of the performance were not acceptable (length, time slot, song, guest singer, lip syncing) and Queen didn't turn down the request per se but were in negotiations. I believe the details were recently worked out. Just a feeling I have.

twitter.com/NME/status/1097559478659149824NME @nme Queen and Adam Lambert will perform at the Oscars expi.co/01n36p "Is this the real life?" Queen and Adam Lambert have announced that they will perform at the 2019 Oscars. Lambert shared the news on Twitter, writing that he and the legendary group “will rock” the Academy Awards ceremony this Sunday (February 24). Bohemian Rhapsody, the biopic about late Queen frontman Freddy Mercury, is up for five Oscars including Best Picture. Rami Malek, who portrays Mercury in the film, is in the running for Best Actor. The Academy also teased the news on Twitter, writing “Is this the real life? Is this just fantasy?” which is a lyric from Queen’s five-minute epic, ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’. Adam Lambert, who launched a pop career after bagging runner-up on American Idol in 2009, toured with Queen as lead vocalist on their world tour between 2014 and 2018. The band’s original members – guitarist Brian May and drummer Roger Taylor – remain in the band however bassist John Deacon hasn’t played with Queen in nearly three decades. Lambert also had a cameo role in Bohemian Rhapsody, which he confirmed in January after months of speculation. The moment in question sees Mercury speaking to his girlfriend Mary Austin (Lucy Boynton) on the phone at a road stop when Lambert approaches him. Lambert, wearing a trucker cap and sporting bushy facial hair, gazes at him longingly for what is suggested to later unfold as a public bathroom tryst. To date, Bohemian Rhapsody has won several awards including Best Film at the Golden Globes and Best Actor for Malek at both the Golden Globes and the BAFTAs.
