I'm a long time lurker but massive fan of the man. Seen him with Queen 6 times and once solo TOH tour at the Hammersmmith Apollo (sitting behind Roger Taylor and Boy George!) It's my birthday so thank you Betty for the fabulous cake! First time posting so hope this works!

I just realized that Queen will perform at the Oscars before ever performing at the Grammies. It doesn't mean anything but just seems consequential

Wow, what a great surprise!!! What a great day: Waking up to Adam’s Elvis performance, that carried me out of bed, while watching his beautiful pictures from his vacation. And now I just came home and find the news, that QAL will perform at the Oscars. The day can hardly become any better. As for the fact, that Adam had denied the appearance before: I believe, they were asked rather recently, as the Oscars were first said to only show 2 music acts. Then they decided to show all 5 nominated ones and now Queen + Adam. That show was still in the planning. I wonder if there were some negotiations with Queen insisting that Adam had to be a part of the performance? I keep imagining them trying to push gaga. So happy this is happening. I had exactly the same thought...

Not all news sites put Adam in their tweet it seems: Deadline Hollywood @deadline Oscars: Queen Will Bring Thunderbolts & Lightning To Sunday’s Ceremony deadline.com/2019/02/oscars-queen-to-perform-at-academy-awards-bohemian-rhapsody-adam-lambert-1202559643/?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter … After enduring a week of backlash over its plan to shorten the Oscars by not showing some categories live then ultimately relenting, the Movie Academy needs your loving tonight. Now some Queen fans might be saying, “You’re my best friend.” The band featured in 2018 breakout biopic Bohemian Rhapsody is set to play the Academy Awards on Sunday. The move should please the legion of fans the movie and is likely to draw more eyeballs to ABC’s telecast. The band features its original guitarist and drummer — Brian May and Roger Taylor — along with American Idol alum Adam Lambert on vocals. Its original singer Freddie Mercury, who was portrayed in the film by Best Actor Oscar nominee Rami Malek, died in 1991. Bohemian Rhapsody has taken in more than $854 million worldwide to become by far the biggest music biopic in movie history. It has banked $212.2 million in North America alone and was the No. 12 movie of 2018 domestically. It ranks No. 67 on the all-time list of top grossers globally. No word yet on the setlist for Sunday’s Queen extravaganza, but it certainly in likely to be the classic title track from the film and — judging from the Academy’s self-imposed time constraints — not the legendary 25-minute Live Aid performance that was depicted in the film. “Bohemian Rhapsody” was the featured track on Queen’s 1975 album A Night at the Opera and reached No. 9 on the Billboard Hot 100. After being the centerpiece of a hilarious scene in the 1992 film Wayne’s World, the re-released single reached No. 2 stateside. It topped the UK chart upon its original release and made it back to the top there as part of a medley with “These Are the Days of Our Lives” shortly after Mercury’s death.

I bet Adam is busy with his stylist, shopping for an outfit and planning the whole look, from hair to nail polish... exciting!

My first thought was a medley. Do you know if they have a previously performed medley that includes Bohemian Rhapsody? In the Rock in New Year concert in the UK, the sang Killer Queen instead of the video taped middle section. I will go check that out, thanks. I can really see the intro to BR floating over the unarguably real life/fantasy crowd and then BAM! lights, camera, QAL! Is this the real life? Is this just fantasy? Caught in a landslide No escape from reality .... fades Lights!!! Stomp, Stomp, Clap! etc....

I checked in my posts and it was announced on February 6th that the Oscars would go without a host, so there is a good chance this is all last minute.
